On Memorial Day, we honor those who selflessly served for our freedoms. Today, we remember five Virgin Islands veterans—Jerome Ferdinand, Jerome Jackson, Aubrey Nelthropp, Carl Thomas, and Leroy Woodrup—who were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for their service with the 65th Infantry Regiment, also known as the Borinqueneers, a Puerto Rican unit in the U.S. Army that fought in World War II and the Korean War. Their story symbolizes perseverance and dedication to their country despite challenges of segregation. We thank you for your service. (Photo Daily News April 26, 2016)

The 40th annual Seatrade Cruise Global industry event provided the backdrop for pivotal, collaborative meetings with cruise lines and our USVI contingency. Itinerary planning, guest experience enhancements and infrastructure development were key topics of discussion for growth and innovation in cruise tourism. Together, we look forward to a vibrant future.

The Seatrade Cruise Global Trade Show hosted 11,500+ cruise industry professionals and travelers in Miami this April. WICO joined the Governor’s Office, the USVI Department of Tourism, the USVI Port Authority and GERS in promoting our islands to cruise partners and attendees. The US Virgin Islands tradeshow presence was considered the most dynamic and culturally engaging with musicians, moko jumbies and traditional dancers. Enjoy this look from the tradeshow floor.
