🎨 D**g Ho Folk Paintings – A Living Vietnamese Art
Recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, D**g Ho paintings are made entirely by hand. The canvas is do paper, crafted from the bark of the dó tree, then coated with a powder of seashells for a pearly shine.
The colors come from nature – black from burnt bamboo leaves, red from stone powder, yellow from garden flowers, and blue from indigo leaves.
Each shade is printed using a separate carved woodblock, layered one by one, creating vivid scenes of village life, festivals, lucky animals, and wishes for peace and prosperity.
More than just art, each painting is a living memory of Vietnam’s cultural soul – a tradition that artisans here are working to preserve for the future.
Travel with This Is Home to meet the artisans, feel the woodblocks under your hands, and bring home a piece of Vietnam’s heritage that you’ve made yourself.
