TABI (たび) shares a style of short period & purposeful travelling which tries to blend into the life of the locals, in order to enjoy a deeper perspective of the journeys. It is not a type of conventional vacations which feels like visiting a zoo as an outsider, etc., nor even a backpacking which includes long distances or periods of time. Need a special route if you are going to Hida-Takayama? Try cycling alone from the Gifu city center -> Gujo-hachiman -> Takayama. Take a few days and enjoy the physically and mentally challenging trip, alone. Trust me, it's worth it:)
