A Place Full of Surprises – A Natural Masterpiece
Tuyen Quang is still a new and unfamiliar region for me—and probably for many others too. It’s truly a masterpiece of nature. If you only travel to Tuyen Quang City, it takes just over 3 hours from Hanoi. But to get to Na Hang, you'll need nearly 6 hours.
So, what’s here?
A lot—seriously, a lot. If you picture Ha Giang with the Nho Que River, then Na Hang has the Gam River, which beautifully embraces the landscape here. You can enjoy activities like stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking.
One of the easier adventures is conquering Khuoi Nhi Waterfall, which I absolutely loved! The best part? There are little fish that give you a natural massage while you sit in the water. Just imagine—climbing a waterfall and having fish massage your feet! What could be better?
But the real masterpiece lies further beyond, and reaching it is a bit more of a challenge. You’ll need to be fit and confident to conquer the stunning “Nam Me” Waterfall, and trust me—it will not disappoint.
For me, the trekking route was quite tough—you’ll pass rocky cliffs and streams—but it’s worth it. What I loved most was the lush green forest all around.
In my opinion, anyone of the right age can complete this trek (younger children should have assistance). When I got too tired, I jokingly just scooted on my butt, haha 😄. The trek is about 4km, and it took me just over 2 hours, but your time may vary depending on your pace.
When I finally reached Nam Me Waterfall, the first words out of my mouth were, “Wow, this is stunning!” There were no words to fully capture the beauty of that moment. The waterfall crashes down with a roar, white mist rising like fog. The powerful water flow made the whole scene even more majestic, and the green forest around it was just vibrant and alive. It was truly refreshing—body and soul.
If you're planning to go to Nam Me Waterfall, I highly recommend booking a guided tour. You'll have local guides who know the way—trust me, the trail follows streams and hidden paths, and you'll need ropes in some places.
To make the experience even better, you can camp overnight on a tiny island in the middle of the Gam River.
If you have any questions about the trip, feel free to drop a comment—I’m happy to share more info!
