The Khoa kitchen at hẻm 160 Cống Quỳnh. They have a branch on Yersin street.

Bà Cả lunch restaurant is well known for Nothern style family lunch food @ 11 Ton That Thiep. D1

This quán nhậu Vườn Xoài (a kind of pub but more focused on foods and beer) @ 453 Phạm Văn Đồng has the best free range chicken. This cool place tucked away in a lush garden and wet land.

American dream never ends inVietnam.
I remember almost 40 years ago my dad applied for the HO program so the whole family would get visas to move to the US. We were not granted though.
And now everytime I travel by the US consulate office I always see a huge crowd outside waiting for their visas to be granted (and most of them get a no answer).

Love the colors of the old Saigon. We had bánh mì thịt nướng (grilled pork) at banh mi Hồng Hoa 54 Nguyễn Văn Tráng D1 but instead of sitting at their shop we walked to the opposite hẻm (alley) to enjoyed the old the scene of the old Saigon.

Why are Western fast food chains not very successful in Vietnam? Because our foods get served a lot quicker and very affordable.
A bowl of noodle soup with seafood, pork and veggies costs just 40k to 50k (less than US$2). Most of the time it takes 5 minutes or less and you will get a hot bowl or plate of food.

Bánh mì thịt nướng (grilled pork patties sandwich).
You can find this dish in Saigon at hẻm (alley) 39 Nguyễn Trãi D1 or hẻm 51 Cao Thắng D3. They both only open in late afternoon.
This dish is not as popular as bánh mì thịt (the traditional bánh mì sandwich with ham and pork sausages). But dont buy bánh mì thịt nướng off a cart as you might get sick from their unhygienic food.
