Thinking about visiting Cham Island but not sure how the logistics work? Whether you are staying in Hoi An or Da Nang, everything starts at Cua Dai Pier (Bến tàu Cửa Đại). Here is a quick, no-nonsense breakdown to help you plan your journey:

Step 1: Reaching Cua Dai Pier
From Hoi An: A quick 10-15 minute ride by taxi or motorbike.
From Da Nang: About 45-60 minutes along the beautiful coastal road by car or taxi.

Step 2: Crossing the Sea to the Island
Once you arrive at the pier, you can choose between two completely different boat experiences depending on your travel style:

🚤 Speedboat (Cano) ~ 20 mins: Fast, exciting, and convenient. There are multiple departures throughout the morning. Perfect if you want to maximize your time on the island.

🪵 Traditional Wooden Boat ~ 60 mins: A very slow, rustic, and old-school local experience. It usually departs once a day in the morning. Great if you aren't in a rush and want to cruise exactly like the locals do.

Quick Weather Tip: The best time for smooth seas and easy transfers is from March to August.

Free & Local: Riverside streets or Thuan Phuoc Bridge. Tip: Arrive 2-3 hours early! It gets super crowded and traffic is crazy. 🛵
Premium View: Book Han River cruises or rooftop spots like Sky 36, Golden Bay, or Wink Bar. (Dinner usually required). 🥂
Budget Rooftops: Drinks-only bars further away. Cheaper, but the view might be partly blocked and you won't hear the main stage music.

Once the crowds clear out, you get to slow down and immerse yourself in true local life. Walk through the traditional villages, learn about their time-honored crafts, and share a smile with the fishermen. It’s wonderfully rustic, peaceful, and far away from the usual tourist tracks.

Highly recommend spending a night if you want a genuine taste of Vietnamese island culture.
