This is a traditional dish from the ethnic minorities of Northwest Vietnam. Originally created by mountain people as a convenient way to cook rice while working in the forest, cơm lam has become a beloved specialty that showcases the harmony between nature and local ingenuity.
When the bamboo is cracked open, a warm aroma rises — the gentle scent of young bamboo blending with the rich fragrance of upland sticky rice.
Don’t need seafood or fancy dishes, just a bit of sesame salt on the side is enough. The rice is soft, slightly chewy, and smoky. It's simple, but full of soul.
