Hoi An — the town that gave us everything.

After the historic flood, Hoi An has quietly risen again, stronger and more peaceful than ever. The streets are clean, the lanterns are glowing once more, and life flows gently along the Thu Bon River — as if reminding us that beauty always returns after the flood.

Walking through the old town now, you can feel a renewed energy. Locals greet each other with smiles, small shops reopen their doors, and the scent of fresh coffee fills the air. There’s something magical about the way this ancient town heals — not only its walls and streets, but also the hearts of everyone who loves it.

Hoi An teaches us that resilience is not loud; it’s found in quiet determination, in helping hands, and in the hope that never fades.

After the flood, Hoi An has come back — calm, kind, and even more beautiful than before. And for those who have ever walked its lantern-lit streets, we know one thing for sure: this little town will always find its way back to peace.

Hoi An — simply Hoi An.

The week awakens in quiet grace.
I drift through my hometown, carrying a gentle promise — to capture a few fleeting moments for a sister from far away.

She hurried, but I whispered: slow down.
For in Hoi An, there is no need to rush.
The slower you walk, the more the town reveals its secret charms.

A dozen Su cakes in hand, I slip into a sunlit corner.
Morning coffee with the locals, the warmth of the first rays brushing the old rooftops — how rare and beautiful when the streets remain calm at the week’s dawn.

And I realize,
Hoi An is always just Hoi An. Most tender at sunrise, when the town still dreams in silence.

On this final day in Quang Nam, I gather my thoughts and tuck them away like treasures,
keeping Quang Nam safe in a sweet corner of memory.
Stepping forward with faith, with hope, into a brighter, shimmering chapter.

If you are someone who loves Culture & Architecture, then Hội An is the perfect destination.

The culture here is diverse — in the way people serve, in their hospitality, and in their ability to communicate with visitors from many different places. Perhaps because Hội An has been a trading port since ancient times, this openness has become a way of life, a character that remains until today. And that’s just on the surface level of services.

As for Hội An itself —
The town embodies a multi-layered cultural depth of different eras. Here, you can find Chinese houses, Vietnamese houses, Japanese houses, and French houses standing close together, sometimes even along the same street. This shows that “people from all over the world” once came to Hội An for trade, built houses, and chose to settle here. And once they settled down, they naturally brought their cultures with them.

But this land is different from many others. Any culture that comes to Hội An undergoes transformation. From architecture, cuisine, customs, and traditions — everything is blended with the local essence. If you live here long enough, you will notice this fascinating detail: people may live in a Vietnamese-style house, yet enjoy Chinese dishes and services from Chinese merchants. On the other hand, Chinese residents might delight in Vietnamese or Japanese cuisine. Over time, everyone began practicing rituals, ancestral worship, funerals, and festivals according to the local calendar and way of life.

This means that for centuries, no matter where people originally came from, once they settled in Hội An, their cultures did not change the local culture. Instead, they were “absorbed” and reshaped by Hội An. And that is what makes Hội An’s culture richer, more colorful, and truly unique.

So, promise me — if you are a lover of Culture & Architecture, you will discover and love even more when you come here.
