We are deeply honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from Cao Bo Commune, recognizing our sustainable development work in Cao Bo Commune, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province. This acknowledgment strengthens our commitment to supporting Vietnam's highland communities.

In 2023, we worked closely with the Picolove team from the National University of Singapore (NUS) to carry out a meaningful service-learning project in Cao Bo. The team helped install solar panels, renovate a school, teach English, and create cultural exchange activities. These efforts directly supported over 60 local children, providing better learning environments and inspiring confidence and a love for learning. They also connected with the local culture, engaged in craft-making sessions, and built lasting relationships with the villagers.

In 2024, YESD returned to Cao Bo Community with the Engineer Without Borders (EWB) team from NUS, but in a different location - Ban Dang Village. Together, we launched a three-part initiative that focused on building a bridge to help highland communities access essential services, delivering English lessons to support responsible tourism development, and partnering with local social enterprises. The project touched the lives of hundreds of villagers and sparked hope for long-term growth.

This year, the EWB team returned to Ban Dang Village with a new mission - constructing a water canal to address the urgent need for clean water. Alongside their construction work, the students also organized English classes for children and immersed themselves in the life and natural beauty of Ha Giang. Their dedication and energy made a lasting impression on the community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Cao Bo Commune for this recognition, to our dedicated partners at NUS, and most importantly, to the resilient communities who welcome our collaboration. Each project represents our shared commitment to sustainable development and cross-cultural understanding.

Rising proudly in the heart of Hanoi, the Hanoi Flag Tower (Cแป™t Cแป Hร  Nแป™i) is more than just a military structure - itโ€™s a powerful symbol of the cityโ€™s resilience, history, and national pride.

Located within the grounds of the Vietnam Military History Museum, the tower has become one of Hanoiโ€™s most recognized landmarks.
Built in 1812 under the Nguyen Dynasty, this 33.4m structure was originally part of the Hanoi Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unlike many other historical buildings in Hanoi, the Flag Tower was one of the few to survive the French colonial demolition of the Imperial Citadel. Its sturdy, three-tiered base and spiral staircase leading to the top offer both architectural charm and strategic significance.

Today, the Vietnamese national flag flying atop the tower can be seen from many corners of the city, especially at sunset. From the top, you can also get a panoramic view of Ba Dinh Square, the Military History Museum, and surrounding colonial-era buildings.

On June 19th, our team at YESD Social Enterprise had an online Orientation Day with our volunteers for this year's English teaching project in Tha Village, Ha Giang. This is a very special day for us, as we finally had a chance to talk with our dedicated volunteers and share about the project.

During the Orientation Day, we had the chance to share details about the teaching project in Ha Giang, from the activities we would have to the classes and students. Then, we also have a full guide for our volunteersโ€™ time on Ha Giang, as well as a short Q&A session for the volunteers to have a better understanding of what we are doing.

Although it is just a short session, it is such a valuable opportunity for us to meet and greet with our current volunteers. We hope that this summer will be more active and educational than ever for us, for our volunteers, and our students in Ha Giang!

Our Story

YESD (Youth Employment and Society Development) is a social enterprise, founded by three friends: Tuoi, Trang and Tuyet. We were brought together by our common passion to help local communities and to provide authentic responsible tourism experiences in northern Vietnam. We have been carrying out tourism projects in various remote areas in northern Vietnam since 2014, providing communities with education and career development in the tourism industry. YESD assist homestay owners in managing their business, train local guides, provide English classes and organise development projects that benefit the wider community. Our dedication to supporting the local community allows us to provide authentic, professional and memorable tours to you!

YESDโ€™s mission is to increase employment for underprivileged youth in the tourism sector and promote responsible tourism. We do this by educating a new generation of tour guides and increasing the skills of indigenous people. Our students are trained in many areas, from Vietnamese history to the fundamentals of responsible tourism. We teach them the steps needed to protect the environment and preserve their culture and traditions. We also instil in them a passion for passing along their knowledge and cultural sensitivities to international visitors, enriching their experience.
