Today we lost a very dear staff member and special friend of many.

Saikot Kaltong was an Eratap Beach Resort “original” – with us from the very beginning.

He never missed a days work in his 18 years of service and always gave 100% effort no matter what the weather was doing

Every working day he walked from the village to the Resort arriving at 5.00am where he sat and waited until his 7.00am shift started.

He was responsible for maintaining the area from the Restaurant to Villa 5 and the gardens, beach and lawns were always immaculate thanks to him.

We will all miss him so much and thank him dearly for his incredible service over so many years.

He will always be a special part of this Resort.

Today we are reopening after our month long annual maintenance break.

The resort is looking great and the staff have had a much needed rest, we are ready for a huge year ahead.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for reaching out to us after the earthquake yesterday.

Boy did the earth shake!

Thankfully I can report that all staff and all guests are well. The resort is also in good shape with no major damage. The lining of our main water tank tore and we lost all water yesterday but alternative tanks were put in place and water came back on line last night. The coral walls of the Spa are a mess, the Spa is closed today but should be back on line shortly.

Otherwise we are operating as normal with a full house, we are very lucky to be self sufficient with our own generators and water sources.

Vodafone telephone service is down, Digicel telephone service is operating.

Our internet has remained on the whole time as we use Starlink.

We had an issue with sending a receiving emails yesterday but that appears to now be resolved.

If you are trying to contact Louisa in reservations, please email her on [email protected] or call the resorts front desk…+678 35560. Her Australian mobile is not operating as she is roaming in Vanuatu on Vodafone…we hope this comes back on line shortly.

Commercial flights to and from Vanuatu are currently suspended but the team at Airports Vanuatu are working hard to bring the airport back on line. Currently the focus is for Aid flights. The runway received very little damage, a Virgin flight flew out this morning. The aim is to get the airport back operational sometime today. Updates to continue.

All our thoughts go out to those who were in the building that collapsed in Port Vila. We express our sincere condolences to those that have passed and are sending much love to those that were injured and those still trapped.
