After a long day of work, we often slip away to watch the sunset at our spot. The beauty of Maine is the ability to sit on a rock, warmed by the heat of the day, watch the sun sink beneath the tree line and then head home for a late dinner. That small part of the day is pure luxury.

When we first saw Acadia House, in a video tour because of COVID, we were kind of shocked by the color of this back room- it was originally brown! I couldn't believe how dark it was, and it made me think twice about buying the house.

But Alex pointed out that paint was easy. So we kept going. And now the room is one of the most transformed in the house - new paint, new floor, new closet doors. It's been kind of a thrill to see it change over the last couple of years.

come stay in the back room which is bright and airy. Your dog or cat is also welcome on the bed.

Fact: we never feel the need to go to MDI. We’ve found so much beauty and tranquility on the Schoodic Peninsula that it keeps us busy in between house projects.

Case in point: Taft Point Nature Preserve, a 5-7 minute drive from AcadiaHouse. A short 10-minute walk through the woods brings you down to the shore. The Preserve overlooks Frenchman Bay to MDI, and the peacefulness, where we can literally hear our breath go in and out, is amazing. We often have the entire place to ourselves, too, which is quite a feeling. I hope everyone can feel like that- connected and renewed. It’s a true jewel and we highly recommend it.

Acadia House has just two weeks that remain open through the end of September. We’re sort of flabbergasted by that and thankful. We definitely weren’t anticipating that. Check out the house at the links above, and on VRBO or Airbnb.
