Almost forgot, I went metal detecting on the beach last weekend. I found £3.39 and a half pence. A ring with a turquoise stone and a Catholic pendant.

Last weekends trip in the Octopod was very exciting! We stayed in a camping field behind a pretty thatched pub in Dorset called the Barley Mow Inn. Then on Saturday we went to Poole harbour to try our sea kayak out for the first time, it was so much fun, though i did feel seasick 🤮. We had intended to paddle to Brownsea Island but didn't make it that far, instead we paddled across the water and landed at Arne Nature Reserve, see the black line on the map - it felt much further than it looks 😁

Last weekend the Octopod went on holiday to the Isle of Portland where we met up with some friends, 5 emu's and another vw van called Aurora. We had a lovely time on the peculiar little white pebbly beach (famous Portland stone) on the way down we saw some real pirate graves!! And had a little crafty session making friendship bracelets and dreamcatchers. The children had lots of fun with some temporary tattoos - even the Octopod got a butterfly tattoo. We stopped for ice-cream on the way home and I ended up eating a whole tub full...oops.

This weekend we went to the New Forest. On Friday night we were joined by a friend in her van and I made us all African peanut, sweet potato and chickpea stew on the fire stove with chapati. On Saturday after baking some bannock on the fire for breakfast we met up with some other friends at The Golden Gecko climbing centre. Rosie was absolutely worn out afterwards and fell asleep before Id even cooked tea. We didn't see much of the forest but spotted some free range pigs and donkeys by the roadside.

The Octopod went to its first (and last!) rave at the weekend in a secret location. What an eye opener that was 😱. Rosie was the only child there as it was 18+ - we were invited by the organisers but told we had to hide her if the authorities turned up. Here are some random pictures before my phone ran out.

The Octopod is going to a very interesting event this weekend at a secret location, so secret that I don't even know where it is yet. More updates to follow....

I think the coolant leak is finally fixed! More new parts, 2 temperature sensors one for the engine block and the other for the bottom of the radiator. I had the radiator flushed as well so the radweld doesn't block up my new water pump.

Walk along the SW coast path from Coombe Martin to Wild Pear beach. Getting onto the beach is not for the feint hearted, the final descent is very steep with loose muddy shale underfoot and would be impossible without the rope provided. All worth it though. We both went swimming and saw 3 different kinds of jellyfish.

Today the Octopod is getting a lovely new coolant bottle, cap and thermostat. Hopefully that will cure the coolant leak. Thermostat is getting replaced as it doesn't have a dashboard temperature gauge and I don't want it overheating without me knowing.
