😮💨 I love seeing my bank accounts survive after a trip but I’ve learned I can experience luxury without breaking the bank. All it takes is planning and a little sacrifice to make it all worth it the end!

I little Seoul inspiration ✨
Planning a trip requires a lot of research, but there will always be incidents you aren’t prepared for. I’ve learned a few lessons from experience, and I always share them with my clients. Here are a few:
🌸 Mistake #1 – Not Carrying Enough Cash
You can find ATMs in convenience stores around Japan, but you might not always find one nearby when you need it. Always carry a minimum of $20 worth of yen for small shops and restaurants. I’ve made the mistake before of not carrying sufficient cash and luckily we met kind Japanese people who let us pay with cigarettes (a story for another time,) BUT you might not get as lucky, so this tip is very important.
🌸 Mistake #2 – Not Downloading a Translation App
Unless you are fluent in Japanese or you’re at a level to communicate comfortably, you must have a translating app. Do not travel to Japan or any country expecting the locals to speak your native language. What’s trying to be expressed can be unclear through translation, but that’s better than trying to communicate through hand signs and chopped-up sentences. Thanks to Google, we were able to communicate and now have the cigarettes story.
🌸 Mistake #3 – Underestimating Walking Distance
Google Maps will say it’s a 10-minute walk from point A to point B, but it doesn’t take into account if you’re walking uphill, through a large crowd, or across a huge, busy, MULTI-LEVEL station 🙃 10 minutes can be 20 minutes due to others slowing you down or you slowing yourself down, so definitely give yourself more time and wear comfortable shoes!
