With EDSA about to become a living commuting hell for many Pinoys. Here’s a very practical, safest, highest volume, and most environment-friendly transportation option. And yes, it can also become a tourist attraction.
The ELEVATED WALKALATOR
Well, some of my transportation and urban development acquaintances actually sneer at this idea. But hear me out.
This works best in highly dense urban areas.
The safest! No need to walk along the dangerous streets and dodge kamote riders.
It can transport more than a million people per day.
It is not fast. But it can bring people to their destinations. No more waiting and queueing time.
Can it be placed in EDSA? Technically, yes (although it is best to be placed from C5 to edsa; BGC to Makati, then to roxas blvd. But if we do some detailed studies, we’ll discover that many people travel less than 4 kilometers to get from their home to their places of work. C5 to EDSA is only about 2 kilometers. That’s less than 30 minutes on comfortable moving walkway, much faster if you’re also walking.
