A dawn departure for 'Stand As One' after repairs were completed. Eric and his team sends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped during his short stay, especially those who assisted in atrocious conditions when he arrived.
We at Martech wish him the best of luck on his trip back home.

Eric Bellion on IMOCA Stand As One arriving in the Falkland Islands last night in horrendous conditions. Martech Falklands co-ordinated his arrival and thank everyone who gave their time. We’re saddened this meant the end of Eric’s Vendee Globe race but pleased he is safe.

Always sad to see the end of someone’s dream when they’ve worked so so hard, but very proud that Paul Ellis and all the team that came together, could get Eric and Stand As One alongside in Stanley safely in horrendous winds. And a nice touch that Marilou Del was there to provide some welcoming and reassuring words in French - her second encounter with Vendee Globe skippers in as many weeks.

VENDEE GLOBE -ERIC BELLION HEADS FOR THE FALKLAND ISLANDS

Eric Bellion, skipper of STAND AS ONE-Altavia contacted his team this morning, around 0833 UTC, to tell them that his repair carried out on his J2 (headsail) attachment had failed.
Ahead of him the conditions expected look particularly difficult, with 40 knots of wind and gusts to 50 knots. Bellion has decided to take shelter to the east of the Falklands Islands. He should reach Port Stanley by the end of the day.

Exciting new project to be involved in to kick off 2025. Martech Falklands will principally be involved in repairing the cracks in the lighthouse using metal stitching. Such a great initiative from the Museum, FIG and the private sector in saving an important part of our heritage.
