105 over the last 48hours. Not baaaad!

So now that we have had a cyclone/ex-cyclone pass through, regular rain doesn’t seem AS exciting but we have to press on with our lives. Because water IS exciting.

We have seen about 30mm of rain over the last few days. BOM is saying today and tomorrow could have some heavy falls! Nice to support the local rain, rather than the buzzy overseas rain events like Alfred. Should be a good show this weekend. I’ve got my tickets.

Ok so it went over 150mm where the measurements stop but didn’t overflow! We’ll call it 160mm.

Adding the 117mm I emptied out yesterday arvo makes the last 24hrs 277mm.

So our daily totals mm from Wednesday to now go:
1, 3, 4.5, 27, 145, 277. Anyone want to draw a graph? lol.

Alright. 145mm emptied this morning. That was for yesterday up to about 7am. I had no power and slooooow internet so didn’t update you earlier.

I have just emptied 117mm now at 4pm as I feel like we would hit the brim if I waited overnight. So that’s over 250mm in 34hours.

Side note: gauge stops measuring at 150mm but can probably hold 180 give or take.

3mm this morning.

Is there a pattern with 1mm yesterday? Is it doing 2mm extra a day? If so tomorrow will be 5mm. Is it tripling? 9mm tomorrow if so. Is anyone still reading? I highly doubt it. 🤓

I dusted off the gauge yesterday in preparation for this event. There was a 1mm dribble in there at 6am today. There would be more now but I’m not telling you that until tomorrow. Rules are rules.

Ok so there was lots if rain last week and I forgot to update you all one day then I thought I would double down and only do an update once we reached the top of the gauge and it came within an inch of the top with those days of rain and I was getting all excited and then the rains stopped and now it’s slowly evaporating, mocking me each morning when I go out the front. I haven’t the heart to empty it either, wishing it to fill to the brim. Anyway whatever, Merry Christmas. Looks like it should be a clear one on the 25th.

Ok so I’m just going to make a prediction of 50mm for tomorrow morning. I am the most famous rain gauge page in all of Ferny Hills so this guess is likely to be very accurate as I am part of the rain gauge elite in these parts. Feel free to suggest your own levels too if you want. Fun!
