This Amerindian Heritage Month, we celebrate the traditions and leadership of Guyana’s first peoples in shaping community-led & owned tourism. Indigenous communities continue to play a central role in creating authentic, sustainable experiences that preserve culture and protect the environment.

In the Travel Redefined: Tourism for People and Planet digital film series, the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) collaborated with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and Content With Purpose (CWP) to feature Caiman House, Yupukari Village: a powerful example of how tourism empowers youth, sustains culture, and safeguards wildlife.

Today, September 1st, 2025, we proudly celebrate the 20th work anniversary of Ms. Liloutie Mangra, fondly known as Amanda, a true pillar of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA).

Ms. Mangra began her journey with the GTA on September 1st, 2005, as our Accountant. Her dedication, professionalism, and financial expertise quickly distinguished her, and on September 1st, 2018, she was promoted to Manager of Finance. Two years later, on July 1st, 2020, she rose to the position of Senior Manager of Finance, before being appointed Deputy Director on June 1st, 2024, a role she continues to serve with distinction today.

In her current capacity, Ms. Mangra oversees the Finance Department, ensuring accountability, transparency, and efficiency across all operations. Beyond her financial leadership, she has also been appointed as the Commissioner General representing Guyana at Expo Japan 2025, a prestigious role that reflects both her expertise and the confidence placed in her at the national level.

Over the past 20 years, Ms. Mangra has carried out every responsibility with confidence, grace, and excellence, consistently going beyond the call of duty. She has often been described as the social butterfly and glue of the GTA, bringing warmth, energy, and unity to her colleagues. Whether leading the Finance Department, assisting with major projects, or contributing to events outside of her official role, Amanda has always stepped forward to ensure success.

Her journey with the GTA is one of dedication, leadership, and passion for service. Today, we thank and honor Ms. Mangra for her two decades of outstanding contributions to the growth and success of the Guyana Tourism Authority and, by extension, the tourism sector of Guyana.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Liloutie “Amanda” Mangra on her 20 years of remarkable service and wishing her continued success in the years ahead! 🎉🇬🇾

The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) hosted a two-day Customer Service and Serving Etiquette Training for Wait Staff on August 27-28, 2025.

Led by Deborah King of Harobed Training, the training equipped 23 participants with practical skills to enhance guest experiences. Day one was held at Palm Springs Hotel and focused on customer service principles, while day two at Bia Bia Tex Mex Cuisine provided hands-on training in a real service environment.

This initiative forms part of the GTA’s ongoing commitment to raising service quality and strengthening Guyana’s hospitality industry.
