What's happening here?

Summer is a great time on the farm and we love seeing all the surrounding fields near and far, blooming in anticipation of the harvest it's yet to give. This one made us curious though as its only blooming in the middle! To all our farmer friends, what's happening here? Is this an Alien influence perhaps? 🤔

Cabin build update!!

The "to do" list is shorter by the day! Lots of finishing touches to be done but I'm sure you all will get the general idea! Watcha all think?? Would you stay here??

Cabin update.

Isn't it cute!

The exterior is all done! The bathroom is all done (but keeping it under wraps for a later reveal) and the main living space is tantalizingly close to being done!

Field Trip! (Literally)

My Granddaughter and I had the privilege of a demonstration of some modern Arable Farming techniques. Thank you to our Neighbors and friends from the Wild Rose Colony, AB for a ride-along in one of there seed drill operations. Particular thanks to Jason, our expert operator for a smooth ride!

Opportunities like this help to educate and inspire individuals and can widen the learning curve for a young mind. I'm sure this little one will remember her visit for a long time! It of course also reminds us that farming doesn't need to be just for farmers, that people like us are welcome and encouraged by responsible farmers like Jason to ask questions, learn about the role of farming in today's world and gain new respect and knowledge and admiration for those willing to make the time for the next generations. Thank you Jason for your time and thank you for a lasting impression.

Cabin update!!

Poor Mama cat is less than impressed with this less than purrfect weather! However she does like the new covered porch on the Cabin build.

Speaking of the Cabin, despite the weather, some decent progress was made over the weekend. The electrical is almost done, the bathroom is almost done and the landscapers are due in this week for the final touches around the building, including reinstating some fencing that was removed to site the cabin. The highlight of the project so far has to be the Barn doors that we re-purposed (from our barn of course) to make a bathroom door and a double bi-fold closet door. Getting close to the finish now!!

Gotta love a cozy stove on a cool spring evening. Relax with your favorite tipple in the Gazebo while listening to mother nature and watch the sun go down.

New Cabin update! Porch and deck done ✅️

Other than the little blip we had in the weather last week it's been decent enough that we have been pushing on with the outside work before the spring rains make it a mud bath. Some grading to be done in the next week or so but other than the outside is pretty much done. The inside is about 70% done but we'll keep that under wraps for now!

Now to all you nosy beggars that do the slow drive by's (yes we see you 👀) now you know where we're at with the project so you can avoid looking creepy! (You know who you are) 😉

Meet Stuart and Maisy. The Ballacres mice. These ones are super friendly, super cute and supper cuddly. Look out for their adventures around the farm. I wonder what Mama cat will make of this pair🤔🤣

THE BIRTH OF A BUILDING!

We've had out next project tucked away inside our shop over the past few months, so it could be worked on while Mother Nature threw the worst of the cold weather at us (hopefully!), but the time has come for it to escape its confines and branch out into the world! It will continue to grow (up!) and develop at its new location, so follow us for more updates!

Located within easy reach of both Calgary and Lethbridge, with Foothills and Willow Creek mere minutes away and with several lakes within easy reach (just bring your own boat!) our naturally beautiful spot is perfectly located for a get-away-from-it-all close-to-home short break.

BREAKING OUT AND BREAKING GROUND!

Thanks to the generosity of Mother Nature in keeping the winter weather at bay, we’re delighted to announce that we’re again breaking out of the short-term rental mold and are one step closer to providing another quirky, affordable accommodation solution to those visiting our beautiful part of Alberta! Thanks to the local guys at Some Enterprises Ltd. for their hard work as we break ground! They made it look so easy and had us ready for the next exciting stage in a jiffy!
