Always fun to check a new species off the life list! Whether it's tiger trout, carp, grayling, or some of our local native species . . . fish is fish, man! It's so cool to see the excitement on even a seasoned angler's face when they land a fish they've never seen before!

What species are you still chasing? I'm still after my first tiger muskie, but I think this is the year!

I love my seat in the middle of the boat. A father and son finding a moment together without all the weight of the world in sight? That’s a good day at work.

This was Stellen’s first fish on the fly, from cast to set to fight to net, I got to be there for it all. What a special moment to bear witness to.

Fall's right around the corner and the browns are going to be getting aggressive. Streamer season on the Gunnison and Colorado is one of my favorite stretches of the year — big flies, big eats, big fish!

I spend most of the fall cooking at Dark Timber Lodge (elk hunters, DM me for details!) but have some availability if you'd like to get out on the water! It gives me tons of time to tie, so let me help you fill that streamer box if we can't fish together!

Heh. Got ‘im!

and I have been putting in long days on the hard water and longer nights planning, plotting, mapping, YouTubing, reading, overthinking, criticizing our overthinking, reading, and generally obsessing over these fish for a while now. Pretty cool to be figuring them out here in Western Colorado — a place not known widely for the pike fishing . . .. Always grateful, never contented.
