West Coast Canyoning Adventures is proud to host one of the most exciting canyoning training events ever held in Canada—10 days of advanced-level instruction and professional development with canyoning legends Rich Carlson, Adolfo Isassi, and FX Gagnon.
This is your chance to train with three of the most experienced canyon professionals in North America—Rich Carlson, founder of Canyon Guides International (CGI); Adolfo Isassi, CGI Technical Director; and FX Gagnon, founder of West Coast Canyoning Adventures, CGI Pro Guide, instructor, and SAR rope/swiftwater rescue team leader.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to the newly founded Canadian Canyoning Association (CCA)—supporting the growth of canyoning training, safety, and access across the country.

1️⃣ ART-3: Advanced Canyon Leadership Course

A 2-day course for seasoned canyoneers looking to lead with confidence. Whether you're a recreational leader or preparing for professional certification, this course covers sequencing, team flow, rigging decisions, and rescue improvisation. Build the mindset and skillset of a capable canyon leader.
2️⃣ CGI Guide Assessments – Level 1 & 2

Official CGI assessments for Assistant Canyon Guide (Level 1) and Single Pitch Canyon Guide (Level 2). Includes technical skills evaluation and a written theory component. Optional practicum is available candidates through WCCA.
3️⃣ CGI Pro Guide Assessment – Level 3

A 3-day field-based assessment for experienced working guides. You'll be evaluated on advanced rigging, team leadership, client care, and real-time rescue scenarios. Location will be confirmed based on water levels and group size.
4️⃣ Advanced Canyon Rescue Workshop

A 2-day immersive rescue training focused on ultralight systems, marginal anchors (including human anchors), and improvised problem-solving under pressure. Learn how to manage complex emergencies with the gear you carry—not the gear you wish you had. ⚠️ Note: This workshop operates outside EMBC and NFPA guidelines. It’s designed for real-world, backcountry rescue where creativity, adaptability, and self-reliance are key.
