The 2024 NorCal Westsail Rendezvous will be held Sept. 20th - Sept. 22, 2024 at Ballena Bay Yacht Club, hosted by Stu and Lauren Bennett aboard W32 WorldWind, along with Randy Leasure aboard W32 Tortuga and Jay Bietz aboard W32 Pygmalion.
All Westsails and Westsailors past, present and future: Bring your boat, crew, or just yourself. We will have dock space for all boats.
Please register in advance on the WOA web site and contact Stu and Lauren at [email protected] if you have questions.
You will need to reserve a slip at the Ballena Isle Marina which uses the "free to use" website Dockspot.com to manage marina reservations. Be sure to use the phrase "BBYC Westsail sail in" in the Special Request box as they will try to group us together. (See below for screen shots.) See the marina cancellation policy. Upon checkout from the marina, the slip fees will be credited to your credit card.
We will be guests of BBYC so there will be other members at the club as well during the weekend with some other activities happening. Please be respectful and responsible as we are guests of the host and club.
· Friday- Boats arrive. Evening hors d'oeuvres potluck on the dock near the boats - a fun event to bring your favorite finger food.
Locals advise to stay to the right center in the harbor channel and avoid a low tide entry/exit. The channel becomes shallow very quickly on each side of the channel. See local tide tables below.
· Saturday, boat tours and visitation etc.
· Saturday dinner - We are arranging a dinner that will be held inside Ballena Bay Yacht Club, with some volunteer Club members preparing the dinner and possibly joining us. Details and cost will be announced soon.
The cost is $30 per plate and the menu will be available the first week of September .
Our after dinner speaker is Stan Sutton who circumnavigated on W43 Marinka, from 1981-1989, and is a member of BBYC and the WOA. Apparently he's presented to the YC, and his talk is a two part series. He's presented the 1st half of the series to the YC, and will be presenting the 2nd half to WOA at our Rendezvous.
