Sacramento gains another bike rider today !
Congrats to this rad 10 year old girl. She did her homework (practiced gliding and braking) before our lesson so she was riding in less than 5 minutes! This was awesome because our lesson could focus on more advanced drills (riding with one hand to prepare for signaling, braking smoothly, taking turns and navigating children/ dogs / teenagers on the bike trail).

These cool people took a break from the dance floor and hit the bike trail this weekend 🚴‍♀️☀️
We cruised just under 7 miles along the American River Parkway — first time exploring it for some!
Thank you to Luis for serving as the volunteer bike sweep and unofficial bike mechanic on the ride 🙏 And thanks to the salseros for coming out !

Successful Family Bike Workshop this weekend !
Kids and their parents learned safe bike handling skills, proper helmet fit, and the basic bike check.
We took a ride thru their local neighborhood - navigating intersections, bike lanes 🚲, traffic signals 🛑 and stop signs, right of way, and safe routes to visit local parks 🏞️ and ice cream shops 🍨.

Last week I survived—I mean, I finished—a week leading a bike camp with a crew of 12- and 13-year-olds 😅🚴‍♂️
Highlight was biking with the whole crew from North Natomas to downtown Sacramento! These kids crushed it — riding strong, staying safe, and having a ton of fun along the way. 😎👏
Throughout the week they built confidence, safe biking skills, and explored their city on two wheels. They learned to load bikes on a city bus 🚌 and basic maintenance skills - brake adjustments, flat tires, chain care. I held a competition for who could do the best job washing 🫧 🧼 my bike because I think I'm slick like that 🤫
Huge shoutout to Jibe for putting on this amazing camp and letting me be part of it. 🧡 I had a lot of fun -- and retained most of my sanity. 😂

Another new and CONFIDENT rider in Sacramento !
This little dude REALLY wanted to ride with his friends - he was motivated and had a great attitude.
He had the strength and balance - a few small adjustments (power pedal position and looking up - not down!) had him riding safely and with confidence around the park in under 20 minutes. Sometimes that's all it takes !

Had a delightful time leading a bike tour with the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates along the beautiful American River Parkway last week! 🚴‍♀️🌿
Our ride highlighted history of the parkway, including a stop at the historic Old Fair Oaks Bridge — one of only ten Pennsylvania Petit Pratt Pony Truss bridges remaining in California! 🏞️🌉
Bonus #1: SABA treated everyone to ice cream — the perfect post-ride refreshment🍦
Bonus #2: We were joined by professional arborist Sarah Norris from Wild Rye Consulting, who gave an amazing impromptu tour of the trees along the river. 🌳💬

The LeBrompton James and I discovered more California bike paths on a work trip last week! Kern River Bikeway Trail - will take you to downtown Bakersfield and along the (now dry) river and canal. Several park access points - easy to access.

Great walking tour with these East Coast visitors!
In addition to touring the Capital Park Rose 🌹 Garden, the California Capitol building 🏢 grounds 🌲 🌴, historic K Street, the downtown arena, Old Town Sacramento and an abundance of art in history along the way, we also saw a beautiful couple getting married in Capital Park (congratulations ! 💍) and met a law enforcement officer on a horse 🐎 who was also from the DC area.
Our tours touch on the history of the founding of modern-day Sacramento while also acknowledging that Sacramento was, and still is, on the traditional lands of the Nisenan people. A memorial depicting the California mission system has been replaced with a tribute to California's indigenous populations.
We offer tours of Sacramento by foot or by bike. All tours are tailored to you, meaning that we can adjust the length and the time to best meet the needs of your group. Check out our website to learn more!

Sacramento County Employee Bike Tour! This tour highlighted TRAIL ACCESS POINTS that are super close to the Sac County downtown offices - they are less than one mile from the Sacramento River Bike Trail, which if you ride North for another mile, will take you directly to the Two Rivers Trail and the very beginning of the American River Parkway - which will take you 32 miles of UNINTERRUPTED BIKE TRAIL to Beals Point in Folsom.
It was great getting to meet local County employees, and, we even had a repeat customer - someone from DGS that enjoyed the tour from last week so much they came to this one (we adore you! And we adore that you use the DGS Bike Share Program bikes and helmets!!!).
Thank you 50 Corridor for the opportunity to lead an excellent bike tour once again!
