Day 28 / 29- Bryce Canyon to Monument Valley, Utah
We rise early for a long day driving from Bryce Canyon to Monument Valley, which is on the border of Arizona and Utah. We drive through Glen Canyon National Park, through the city of Page and picnicked by Lake Powell, which feeds its water supply all the way to the Hoover Dam.
We continued heading east and enter Navajo Nation where there is a large indigenous population. First impressions were that some seemed quite poor - as soon as we pulled into a service station, we had a local begging for money. Lovely man though and we had a good chat about the landscape.
We arrive in Monument Valley - the word ‘spectacular’ doesn’t seem to do justice to this place. The towering sandstone rock formations amongst the 30,000 acre desert valley is both awe inspiring and breathtaking.
We grab some pictures just on dusk and retire for the evening at out home for the next two nights in Goulding’s lodge. No beer here though - The reservation is all dry.
