Somaro Dating back over 200 years, Somaro is a maiko teahouse and museum showcasing the legacy of the vibrant history between Sakata and Kyoto.

Newly renovated and reopened in 2000, Somaro preserves the vibrant cultural and trade history between Sakata and Kyoto. Its trademark red lacquer walls, superb woodwork, and peaceful garden offer a rich experience into the elegance of geisha culture. Each day at 14:00 you can also enjoy the maiko dance in the big hall on the second floor. Maiko boxed lunches are also available from 12:00 - 13:00.

Reservations are required two days in advance. Pricing:

General Admission 700 yen. General Admission + Maiko Dance 1000 yen
