Thanks to everyone for checking on us. We are great!! It was a wild night with lots of rain and some strong winds, we slept through most of it.
Disney resorts are built to withstand hurricane conditions and many Floridians actually evacuate to the resorts here. They also are on their own power & water systems with their own crews to handle cleanup & repairs. Knowing all of this plus watching the local news & weather reports, we felt very comfortable staying on Disney property. It was interesting to see the difference in reporting from the national news sources versus local news, and having family call us to tell us what they were seeing on the news compared to what we were seeing in person.
Hurricane Milton was very, very serious, Orlando is also not on the coast so the concerns here are different than those for coastal regions.
We are safe in our resort room & honestly couldn't even hear the storm unless we stood with our ear to the door.
With that said, we are all great!
We are planning to spend time at our resort and participate in the activity offerings today. Then back to the theme parks tomorrow!
