K9 Conservation Employing extensive in-the-field experience, K-9 Conservation provides logistical backup and support

Our primary function is to aid and assist game reserve and wilderness area owners/bodies counteract illegal hunting and wildlife trade by poachers and poaching syndicates. As each situation is unique, together with you, we tailor-make and implement a program to meet your precise needs. Having agreed the plan we then deploy a K-9 unit into your area, 24/7, which works to resolve your specific probl

em/s. Our field rangers and dogs are carefully selected and paired to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, while non-stop on-the-job training ensures our units are continually rated top class. K-9 Conservation operates successfully in any terrain, mobilises anytime, anywhere and, when necessary, remains in the field for extended periods. Wherever the K-9 unit is deployed poachers are swiftly dealt with, with all resulting engagements adhering strictly to the rule of law. It is proven that once trained working dogs are deployed into an area the news quickly spreads among poachers and criminal syndicates alike and the level and frequency of poaching incidents (and often other crime) usually drops dramatically, this ensures and is an effective deterrent to criminals.

🦏 "The rhino uses its horn in its natural environment for its own protection. Man uses it for his own greed."

That greed fuels the poaching crisis. It sets snares. It fires shots. It leaves both wildlife and those protecting it fighting to survive.

Our K9 rangers are on the front lines—tracking poachers, finding snares, and protecting Africa’s most threatened species.

When one of these dogs falls in the line of duty, they are not forgotten.
We honour them with a tag—their name engraved and placed on the Rhino Sculpture, alongside others who gave everything for the wild.

Every tag is a story of bravery.
Every name is a reminder of what we’re fighting for.

🐾 They protected the wild. Now the sculpture carries their legacy.

The Silent Killers in the Bush

Every day, our anti-poaching teams track through dense bushveld—searching not only for signs of poachers, but for the brutal wire snares they leave behind.

These snares are mostly set for bushmeat, but they don’t discriminate. Predators like lions, leopards, hyenas—even endangered species—are often caught in their deadly grip. Some don’t survive. Others are maimed for life.

Adding to the devastation, poachers now use dogs to track and hunt wounded animals—often treating them with the same cruelty as the wildlife they pursue.

But in some cases, we've been able to rescue these dogs. Trained under fear, neglected and misused, they now have a second chance—to be healed, retrained, and given a life of purpose and respect.

This sculpture is more than art. It's a symbol of the complex and brutal reality of poaching—and the quiet, relentless fight to restore balance.

🦏 Every snare removed. Every dog saved. Every predator protected. It matters.

🌿 International Day for Biological Diversity 🌍

Today, we honour the rich tapestry of life that sustains our planet — from the smallest pollinator to the largest predator.

At the heart of our conservation work are our K9 heroes — dogs trained to protect endangered species, track poachers, and safeguard wild spaces. Each pawprint they leave is a step toward a more biodiverse, balanced Earth.

Biodiversity isn’t just beauty — it’s survival. For all of us.

Let’s protect what remains. And restore what we’ve lost. 🐾🌱

🦏✨ Introducing Rhino Art by African Wood Magic ✨🦏

Created by local wood artist Wyand du Bruyn and renowned conservationist Conraad de Rosner, this powerful collection pays tribute to one of Africa’s most iconic species — the rhino.

Each piece is hand-carved from Leadwood and other indigenous woods, ethically sourced from cleared farmland with proper permits. These sculptures tell stories of strength, resilience, and our deep connection to the wild.

Not only does this art celebrate the rhino, but a portion of proceeds has also supported pangolin conservation — the world’s most trafficked mammal.

This is more than art — it’s conservation carved in wood. 🌍🖤

Conservation isn’t just about protecting wildlife—it’s about telling their stories in powerful ways. And few do it better than Conraad, whose breathtaking Rhino Snare Sculpture transforms tragedy into a call for action.

Crafted from recovered poacher’s snares, this sculpture embodies the harsh reality of wildlife crime while honoring the resilience of Africa’s giants. Every twisted wire once meant to take a life—now it stands as a symbol of hope.

At K9Conservation.com, our anti-poaching dogs and handlers work tirelessly to prevent these threats before they happen.

Huge thanks to Ilana and JP from Aardvark Wildlife & veterinary services who assisted with the darting of a young male lion who managed to breach a fence on Thursday evening. He was later released back to safety on the game reserve 🦁
