Congrats to for his new photo book “Drink it Blue” from our 2 week trip to Alaska. We lost 2 years of business in Japan due to covid, had never been to Alaska, and felt this was a good time for all of us to catch up and get back to normal. We rode sleds, glacial airplanes, a 65 ft boat, and splitboards. got his first cover shot. No sponsors, just a home equity line and it was worth every penny. Love you brothers, as I dreamt of this trip since I was a little grom. and all the lot lizards 🙏Where we going next ?

Sometimes on Instragram there’s a photo of real emotion. captured the moment of despair. The last 13 years riding Japan, starting a business here, buying and building a lodge w my own two hands, losing two seasons due to Covid, all well fighting an 8 year custody battle, a heart attack here, a parent, my last fighting cancer and battling depression/anxiety which turns a thirst to ride powder, escapism, and then drink beer only leads to abandonment and more anxiety, only to let the cycle continue. Guests would say “you’re living the dream” what they didn’t see is the 2am phone calls w attorneys, therapists, judges etc. Drinking was a short respite in between. And I did it really well. First in the van every morning ready to rock, but then I’d need a beer at Lawsons to heal the few hours asleep, and cope with a new court date in a child custody battle with a date set w a judge, attorney etc. It’s been 14 months since I spoke w or saw my daughter , she lives 5 minutes from me. She’s been to Furano and Japan 3x w my ex. I do this for her, I want her to know her dad fought for 8 years, but weak at moments. If you see me have a beer on your trip you’ll get a full refund. I was running, confused and an addict.Snowboarding is what’s saved me countless times. The ability to turn my mind off, be present, and feel again. After 8 years it’s good to finally have it all behind. Until then Alive We Ride.

No needed where we go. To our favorite snow photographer Andrew Miller ( he won’t let us mention him as he’s blocked us. ) claims anyone can turn in Japan, this one’s for you. Tell me I don’t know how to snowboard. Perhaps you’ll be back in another 10 years.

As we wait to update our site with 2025 dates etc. we’d like to remind you, our previous guests, employees and friends have also started guiding businesses in Central Hokkaido. We’re not sure if they have insurance, guide certifications or reputable western accommodations but they offer cheaper options. We’re not the cheapest for a reason. But Alkaline Lodge , .jp Powder Dan, etc. etc. all provide a cheaper service as well. Weigh your options and happy to share perspectives when booking in Central Hokkaido. We’re not for everyone for a reason. But if you’re an intermediate or want to check “Japow” off your list please contact our competitors. You’ll get a deal. We don’t take anyone they do. Keep the change.
