Sunworld Safaris was established in 1997 and is still currently operating with its head office based in Nairobi, Kenya. We pride ourselves in offering select 4 x 4 safari packages, tailor made safaris and four wheel drive car hire. Our aim is to show YOU Kenya the way WE know it and to ensure that our knowledge is featured in the itineraries

we provide. We are happy to offer you our advice whether you wish to experience a fully organized safari or simply rent one of our 4x4 vehicles on self-drive or chauffeur driven basis. Being a relatively small organisation we CARE about your safari experience – you are not just a file number for us but a person willing to put all your trust in us and spending your hard earned money on a holiday in Kenya / East Africa. We appreciate this trust you have in us and hence will do our utmost to fulfill our promise to you. You will not be joined by 5 other safari guests or more in your Minibus (not very suitable for Kenya’s rough roads) but rather experience a “private safari” if you like and enjoy game drives at your own pace, choose your travel dates and give us your ideas of how you imagine YOUR SAFARI. Since we have our own fleet of 4 x 4 vehicles maintained in our in-house workshop we have several advantages over tour operators who rely on companies to provide them with transport. You can rest assured to be given a good quality safari style or luxury 4 x 4 vehicle and travel with one of our well trained driver/guides

"I am Doris, and the girl I am today is nothing like the one I used to be.
I was almost forced into marriage at a young age, but my mother, with the help of our local chief, rescued me. The chief took me to The Olmalaika Trust, where I found safety, education, and the chance to grow. There, I learned to believe in my potential and became a strong young woman. 🥰❤️

Today, I work at Mara Bush Camp as a Naturalist and as a Community & Wildlife Conservation (CWC) Champ. I’m proud to be part of projects that protect our environment, empower women through beadwork, and provide sanitary pads for girls in our community.

I love what we are doing, and I’m deeply grateful to Sunworld Safaris and CWC for making a difference - not just in my life, but in the lives of so many."

📷 by : For us as responsible tour operators, sustainable community tourism is so important. As part of our Kenya tours we visit several community conservation projects so that our clients do more than just fly in, take pictures and fly out without giving anything back. I think that this is so important for any tour operator and I work closely with to make sure we do this wherever possible. I have already posted about the elephant sanctuary and it's great work with the local Samburu community, well this picture shows another great project we support - the Solio Rhino Orphanage.

It's only been going 18 months but already has done a superb job in rescuing, treating and starting to rehabilitate orphaned rhinos. This will lead to their reintroduction back into the wild, which is a great thing for us to support. We recently visited the orphanage with 10 year old Sab, well we can't show her pics for obvious reasons but here are two pictures of very very happy adults getting involved. All of our clients on our Kenya safaris get involved with sustainable community tourism and they love it.

Something very different for today, taken two days ago. As you know I am on a family holiday to Kenya with our great friends Sunworld Safaris . We've managed some truly incredible encounters but this one was very special as a Serval is rare to see.

I used to see them regularly in the Mara, well due to the circus there for the last few years I no longer go there, so it was a pleasure to see a Tsavo based cat. Servals are grassland and scrub hunters, like the Aardwolf their technique is to cover a lot of ground in search of prey. They are not lurkers and don't use stealth, they use their superb hearing and eyesight to find success. Widespread throughout Africa the IUCN list them as least concern with the main threat from habitat destruction and the pet trade believe it or not.

It's one of those rare sightings that takes my breath away and makes me realise why I love this lifestyle so much. It's time for me to think about my next book and I'm very keen on African wildlife as my portfolio is huge, the issue always with me is finding a good theme and a direction that is useful for both the reader and the animals within it. Time for some thought I think when my mad travel schedule allows.
