Happy St Patrick's Day!

So where did it all begin?

The patron saint of Ireland (St Patrick), is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and famously used a three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.

Here are some fun Irish facts for today:

1. The Irish Flag represents peace between different groups in Ireland—green for Irish Catholics and nationalists, orange for Protestants, and white for peace

2. Leprechauns come from Irish folklore and are figures who guard hidden treasure

3. Ireland is home to one of the world’s oldest known pubs and Sean’s Bar in Athlone dates back to 900 AD!

So, whether you’re celebrating with a guinness or enjoying some Irish music... Sláinte! 🍀

Curious about how much your tour will cost as a solo traveller?

Our 25% single supplement fee remains constant across all tours, which means no nasty surprises when selecting your room.

We always allocate our solo guests their own double rooms, although they may differ in size depending on the specific property.

Having your very own space to retreat to each night allows you to have some independence and privacy while still enjoying the many benefits of a small group tour.

Who are we?

Picture a touring holiday that delves that bit deeper. Where journeys are made for absorbing never-to-be-forgotten views, not darting from A to B, and each day ends in a hand-picked retreat brimming with local charm.

At Back-Roads Touring, we’ve spent over 30 years creating these kinds of small group tours. We know that the best kind of adventure is one that introduces you to local experiences and sights whilst providing you with the time and space to explore independently.

Our key ingredient? Experienced tour leaders who can transform an exciting getaway into something truly extraordinary. All the while, you can be confident that your Back-Roads tour is being run responsibly and with sustainable tourism in mind. In fact, our commitment to green practices has earnt us a Silver Green Tourism rating.
