UNIT – Our First Circular Display Case
♻️ 2025 marked the launch of UNIT, Epta’s first eco-sustainable refrigerated display case designed according to the principles of the circular economy.

UNIT embodies a new generation of equipment: modular, repairable, recyclable (up to 80%), and built from a minimal set of materials including sheet metal, recycled plastic, cork, and aluminum.

Developed on the pillars of Use Less, Use Longer, and Use Again, UNIT introduces a new industrial logic where environmental and economic performance align.

Together, these principles lead to Use Better, supported by technologies like remote monitoring and energy optimization, which ensure high performance throughout the product’s lifecycle.

🔍 Innovation Spotlight

Epta has been recognized by the European Commission’s Innovation Radar for its development of the CO₂ Pressure Exchanger- XTE, an advanced solution for improving energy efficiency in retail refrigeration systems.

XTE – Extra Transcritical Efficiency is a patent-pending system that delivers enhanced energy efficiency in all climate conditions. By reducing consumption peaks during hot months, it achieves over 30% energy savings above +40°C compared to traditional transcritical systems. It also offers benefits in mild and cold climates, activating from +10°C, ensuring year-round efficiency.

Developed under the EU Horizon 2020 ENOUGH project, this innovation supports the transition toward climate-neutral food businesses by 2050 and contributes to key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 7, 8, 9, and 12).
Fully developed as an industrial equipment to a TRL 8 level and currently in the “Exploring” phase, the project shows strong potential to serve existing markets and scale efficiently.

🌱 Epta at CLIMA 2025 – Leading the way in sustainable HVAC design
Our colleague Francesco Mastrapasqua will be speaking at the Eurovent Certification Workshop during the Clima World Congress 2025, taking place today in Milan at 14:00.

As part of the session titled: “Driving Sustainable HVAC Design: Real-World Insights from Simulation to Implementation”, Francesco will contribute to the discussion on: “Refrigerant Transition and Sustainable HVAC Design”.

He will share valuable insights on:
✅ The shift to low-GWP refrigerants
✅ The critical role of certified data in ensuring reliable, compliant product integration in a rapidly evolving HVAC landscape.

How can the Italian Transition 5.0 plan drive real change in commercial refrigeration?

In a new interview with Mark UP, Marco Nocivelli (CEO, EPTA GROUP), Luca Signorini (President, Conad Centro Nord), and Roberto Faravelli (President, GRUPPO GFA) explore a joint project that leveraged Transition 5.0 incentives to renovate multiple Conad CCN points of sale — with a focus on energy efficiency, digitalization, and environmental impact.

Thanks to a synergic collaboration between Conad Centro Nord, GFA, and Epta’s engineering and service teams, the stores were equipped with high-efficiency refrigeration systems, integrated with energy monitoring and management platforms, in line with the goals of the national Transition 5.0 plan, aimed at supporting the transition of production processes to an efficient, sustainable and renewable energy model.

🌱 The Festival of Economics in Trento has just wrapped up, and Epta was more than just an Official Partner — we presented a real example of how we are shaping a conscious future.

We proudly took part in an event that puts sustainable economics at the center of the conversation, involving also our , who joined the experience thanks to Epta’s invitation and were immersed in inspiring ideas and forward-thinking discussions.

🔹 Smart materials: We reduced the number of components and selected sustainable, high-quality ones — including recycled plastics, aluminium, glass, and prestressed cork, a renewable insulator harvested without cutting down trees.

🔹 Low environmental impact refrigerant: UNIT uses isobutane (R600a), a highly energy-efficient, eco-friendly refrigerant.
