It's currently snowing in Seoul. And so naturally, I had to step outside and take in the wonderful white flakes. Not sure how long the snow cover will last, so I'm happy that I at least got to see it for a little bit.

I recently shared about the gorgeous shrine Munmyo. Here are my pro camera pics of it. Such a stunning place and free to visit!

This is the park above Dongdaemun gate, called Heunginjimun Park.
You can get a little stamp here and walk next to the old city wall. It's part of the big city wall hike I did in 2014. And it has a great view over the historic gate and all the way to the DDP and Seoul skyline. You can see Seoul tower from here, too.

I hiked up Namsan Hill in Seoul!
It was hard, not gonna lie. But the view was so rewarding, and I felt like I accomplished something big.
Also, I learned that I can just take the bus next time. I'll do that for when I want to check it out for the night view.

Definitely one of the prettiest libraries I've seen. This is ELTE library in Busiest, Hungary.
Does in 1561.

This is the stunning opera house in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺
I only saw the exterior and foyer because I didn't book a tour or opera ticket. It's not open to the public otherwise.

While I stayed one month in Budapest, I also realised I needed to see a bit of the surrounding area.
I didn't feel like big day trips, so I went with a friend to Tata, which is an hour away by train.
It's a small town that sits on two lakes. There's a castle, a mansion and some smaller sights.
It was a nice, chill half day trip.

Travel friends, have you ever made it onto the plane after official gate closing time? The trains are stuck and I'm supposed to arrive as the gate closes. I'm checked in.

Interesting that they're feeling the everyday beer culture in my current home town as a 'sophisticated alternative' to Oktoberfest.
There just isn't an Oktoberfest here. But there are other local festivities, during the summer especially.
Every September, millions of tourists flock to Munich for Oktoberfest. However, the true centre of German beer culture lies in Bamberg: https://bbc.in/3MT4VAB

I'm honestly so confused about people's idea of hygiene.
Just caught a woman leaving the toilet without washing her hands. She flushed.
And she then started touching her arms all over. No using water.
I showed her where the soap was, in case she just didn't see. (Vor she clearly didn't even look for it)
And she looked at me confused. Very confused. I pointed at the soap. She was still very confused.
Saying she doesn't need soap. Then she left. Touching yet another door.
She had touched the toilet. The door handles. The lock. Just ew

Sunset over Budapest as seen from Fishermen's Bastion, the most popular photoshot in the city.
For a good reason.

Check out the sun rising over the Budapest Parliament building on a chilly September morning.
I timed it perfectly and even did a timelapse video, which I need to edit before I show you.
But it's already so cool with these photos!

Sunrise over Budapest seen from Fishermen's Bastion.
I can't believe I got up two days in a row around sunrise to capture this scene. I got sick for a day afterwards because my body is definitely not used to these hours and it got chilly, too!

From Down Under Around the World
Hello there! Welcome to a world of travel and endless colours, where I get lost in distant countries and bring you tales from the road. A blog dedicated to all the strong women out there in the world and a source of constant inspiration and the living proof that if you are dead set on making a dream come true, you can!
Out of the Dark to Down Under
Back in 2014, I was in a dark spot. Well, that is an understatement. The only way seemed to be down the rabbit hole but since not all journeys in life end in fairy tales I opted for the way a lot of people tried to discourage me from: I went off the grid. To Down Under.
I booked a one way ticket to the other side of the world with only a tiny scrap of confidence left and that was that I somehow would be fine. Travel has always been a second nature to me and miraculously enough I had always been fine. But that would be heavily challenged on my first solo, round-the-world trip.
