An Unforgettable Journey to the Heart of Zanskar Valley with རི Ri Guides.

Our recent adventure took us deep into the rugged, breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh’s Zanskar Valley, where we explored some of the most remote and mystical destinations: Phugtal Monastery, Shade Village, and Gonbo Rangjon.

Phugtal Monastery: Perched like a honeycomb on a cliffside, Phugtal Monastery is a 12th-century marvel accessible only by foot. This sacred Buddhist site, home to monks living in harmony with nature, left us in awe with its serene ambiance and ancient murals. The trek to Phugtal was as spiritual as it was scenic, winding through dramatic gorges and the shimmering Lungnak River.

Shade Village: Tucked away in one of Zanskar’s remotest corners, Shade Village feels like a step back in time. Surrounded by towering peaks, this isolated hamlet offered a glimpse into the resilient lives of Zanskari locals. Their warm hospitality, traditional mud-brick homes, and stories of survival in this harsh terrain were truly humbling.

Gonbo Rangjon: Standing tall against the stark Zanskar landscape, the sacred Gonbo Rangjon peak is a spiritual beacon for locals and trekkers alike. Its striking presence and the tranquility of the surrounding valley made it a perfect spot for reflection and soaking in the raw beauty of Zanskar.

That’s a wrap for our fall
‘post monsoon’ 7,000-meter peak season in the Western Himalayas!
Satopanth expedition team successfully reached the summit. Our climbers are now safely off of the mountain and are already back at the comfort of their homes.
Once again, congratulations to all on these huge accomplishments... These memories from high places won’t soon be forgotten!

As the autumn leaves begin to fall and the temperatures drops in the western Himalayas, རི Ri Guides bids farewell to another successful climbing and trekking season here in the western Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Our team successfully completed the challenging Satopanth climb expedition, reaching the summit with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Additionally, we ventured deep into the Himalayas on a captivating trek to the base camps of Shivling and Meru, experiencing the raw beauty and grandeur of these majestic mountains.

རི Ri Guides is a professional mountain and trekking guide service provider in the Himalayas. Our base is in the heart of the Himalayas. Above all our goal is to organise safe and environmentally-conscious mountaineering expeditions and treks. We operate in the mountain regions of India (Ladakh, Himachal Pradeshand Uttarakhand) and the Nepal Himalayas. Himalayan Mountain regions ecosystem is very fragile and more so nowadays. We really strive to preserve this wonderful ecosystem, and leave as much little footprint. Furthermore, during all our trips we try to contribute as much by making conscious and serious effort to clean up the Himalayan mountains.
