✈️ Tuesday Top Travel Tips ✈️
🏝️ 1. Make copies of your passport, visas and insurance policy.
Having a copy of your travel documents can make replacing them easier if you lose them overseas. Carry them in a separate place to the originals, in your carry-on baggage. Leave a copy with someone at home. Know what to do and who to contact if you lose your travel documents while travelling.

🏝️ 2. Ask about recommended vaccinations and other preventative health care for your destination.
Vaccinations can be an entry requirement for some destinations – and not just for COVID-19. There are other health risks you may face while travelling in some locations, such as malaria or hepatitis. Talk to your travel doctor about what preventative healthcare is recommended for where you’re going. Check your medication, too – certain medicines are illegal in some destinations, or require a permit.

🏝️ 3. Expired passports and the 10 year rule
Pre-2018, those who renewed their passports would get 10 years plus any remaining time left on their current one – up to nine months. That meant some passports were valid for 10 years and nine months.
However, EU rules state that passports are valid for a maximum of 10 years, even if they are still valid. That means if you’re visiting the EU with more than 10 years’ validity, you could be denied entry. It’s up to you to check this – not the airline.
As well as being less than 10 years old, your passport should also have three months’ validity after your return date if you’re travelling to the EU.
Many other countries, including Egypt, Thailand and Turkey, require six months’ validity so make sure you check this in good time.

🏝️ 4. Get comprehensive travel insurance.
Travel insurance is as important as your passport for overseas travel. Ensure it covers you for the places you’ll visit, the things you’ll do and any pre-existing medical conditions you have.

🏝️ 5. Check the visas, entry and exit requirements for your destination, and all your transit locations.
Many destinations currently have strict entry and exit measures in place. Check that you’re eligible for a visa and can meet all other entry requirements before booking anything. Contact the embassy or consulate for your destination to confirm requirements.
