GREAT NEWS FOR ONLINE POKER From our friend Rich Muny Poker Players Alliance
"I have terrific news to share. Yesterday, HR 649, which would license online poker and other online gaming in Pennsylvania, passed the Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee overwhelmingly, 18-8. The strong bipartisan support in the committee bodes well for passage into law but, of course, there are no guarantees.
There are two paths forward from here. One is a full House vote, followed by a full Senate vote, then (assuming no changes by the Senate) to Gov. Tom Wolf for his signature. The other is for state lawmakers to include HB 649 in that state’s budget bill. Be assured PPA will continue pressing lawmakers in the Keystone State to pass this important legislation.
If you reside in Pennsylvania, be sure to visit the PPA Pennsylvania action page. And, of course, please keep an eye on your inbox for important calls for advocacy. If you do not reside in PA, please be sure to support our brothers and sisters in the Keystone State. It is good for them, and it is also good for the rest of the nation. If this passes, it will weaken the push on Capitol Hill for a ban on state-authorized online poker while simultaneously encouraging other states to move forward with their own licensing bills."
Take Action
Let’s send prefilled, editable tweets to seven Pennsylvania lawmakers regarding H.B. 649. Again, be sure to send even if you do not reside in the Keystone State, as you will be helping your fellow poker players and enthusiasts there as well as helping to move the ball forward throughout America:
