🇵🇪✨ A Special Journey Through Peru — From Afar 🇭🇺✈️

These days, a wonderful Hungarian family is exploring the breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures of Peru — all on a 2.5-week journey planned by me, without me physically being there. 🧭🌎

This is actually the first time I’m not guiding a group in person in South America, but it’s been an exciting new experience to support them remotely from Hungary! Every step of the way — from logistics and routes to local English-speaking guides — has been carefully organized and is running smoothly. 🙌

They’re now in the final stretch of their adventure: today, they’re visiting the stunning Colca Canyon, and tomorrow they’ll head to Miraflores in Lima for one last sunset by the Pacific before flying back to Hungary on July 4. 🌄🌊

So far, everything has worked out beautifully — and it’s great to see that even from home, I can still help others discover the magic of South America! 💚

In March 2026, we’re heading out once again – this time to explore one of South America’s most diverse and stunning countries: Argentina. Join our small group of nature lovers for an unforgettable adventure! 🌍

We’ll start in Buenos Aires, then journey south to the heart of Patagonia and the trekking capital of Argentina, El Chaltén, where several legendary hikes await. From there, we continue to Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, where we’ll discover glaciers, lakes, rugged mountains, and the unique charm of the world’s southernmost city.

One of the major highlights will be a close-up visit to the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier – one of the most spectacular natural sights in South America. ❄️

To wrap up the trip, we change climate completely and fly to the far north to visit the iconic Iguazú Falls – exploring both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of this awe-inspiring wonder. 🌴💦

🇵🇪🇧🇴 Peru & Bolivia – Our Next Big Adventure! 🇧🇴🇵🇪

After wrapping up our unforgettable journey through the mountains, valleys, and cultural treasures of Pakistan, it’s time for “Life is a long weekend” to head back to our favourite continent: South America!

This July, we’re taking eight lucky adventurers on a hand-picked exploration of the very best of Southern Peru – from the magic of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, all the way to the mystical waters of Lake Titicaca. But we’re not stopping there…

🌿 We’ll dive into the heart of the Amazon jungle in Rurrenabaque, where wildlife, river life, and raw nature await.

🛻 Then we’ll set off on an epic Bolivian jeep expedition across the surreal landscapes of Salar de Uyuni, with salt flats, lagoons, and volcanoes stretching to the horizon.

This is more than a trip – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime immersion into two countries filled with colour, culture, and contrast. And we can’t wait to guide this group through it all, the way only we know how. 🌍✨

Stay tuned for the stories.

🎢 Our return from Skardu didn’t go quite as planned…

We were all set to fly back to Islamabad — bags packed, boarding passes ready — when our flight got cancelled at the very last minute.

With no seats left on the next flights, we were about to rent a car with a driver when, out of nowhere, a familiar face showed up: a kind Polish-Pakistani couple we had briefly met back in Fairy Meadows. They recognized us at the airport and offered to help.

As it turned out, they were heading to Islamabad in a 7-seater jeep to pick up new clients — and they had space for us! With no time to waste, we jumped in, hoping we could still catch our next-day flight to Turkey. About 650 km ahead, part of it on the legendary Karakoram Highway.

Progress was slow — really slow. Landslides had blocked the road, and the mountain pass wasn’t open, so we had to join the long traffic queue through Chilas.
Trucks kept getting stuck, so we all got out and helped clear the way. After ten hours on the road, we had only covered around 250 km…

Around midnight, still far from Islamabad, we accepted the reality: we weren’t going to make our flight. In the middle of the night, somewhere on a dark mountain road, we rebooked our tickets using mobile data and eventually made it to the airport — completely exhausted — after 20 hours on the road.

Now another long journey awaits us back to Budapest, but despite the unexpected ending, we’re already planning to return to Pakistan with a new group next year.

Wanna be part of the adventure in June 2026? Join us for a truly unforgettable trip! 🇵🇰✈️💚

🏰 After our Marsur Rock hike, we made a new visit to the old fort above Skardu — and luck was on our side! Just as we reached the small gate, the keyholder, an elderly man with a calm presence, appeared and let us in.

We explored both the inside and the outer walls of the fort, enjoying the views and the timeless atmosphere of this historic place. It was a beautiful way to wrap up our time in Skardu.

Now we’re heading back toward Islamabad for a final taste of the capital before flying home. What a journey it has been! ✨🇵🇰 (Skardu, Pakistan)

What an unforgettable experience the Marsur Rock hike was for the three of us! 💪⛰️ We climbed from about 3,000 m to nearly 3,900 m under the blazing sun—but the views were absolutely worth it.

Sharing some photos with you so you can see what this epic hike outside of Skardu looked like! 📸 A perfect way to wrap up our trekking adventures in Pakistan before diving into our final cultural days around Islamabad. 🇵🇰✨

On our last day in Skardu, Pakistan, we hiked to the popular viewpoint of Marsur Rock in Hussainabad village. It was a challenging ascent of nearly 900 meters in elevation, but despite the strong sun, we reached the famous rock in just over two hours.

From the top, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the Indus River winding through the valley, framed by the snow-capped peaks of the Karakoram range in the distance. The hike itself, though steep, was filled with panoramic scenery and offered a real sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top.

Marsur Rock, often compared to Norway’s Trolltunga, juts dramatically over the valley and has become one of the iconic photo spots in the Skardu region. Standing on the edge, with the vast landscape unfolding beneath us, was a truly unforgettable way to end our adventure in Pakistan.

We’re now almost at the end of our journey—soon we’ll fly back to Islamabad before catching our return flight to Europe.

❄️🏜 A Magical Day in the Cold Desert of Sarfaranga & Shigar Valley 🕌🌄

As our time in and around Skardu slowly comes to an end, we had the chance to explore the surreal landscapes of the Sarfaranga Cold Desert — truly one of nature’s masterpieces! We then headed to the stunning Shigar Valley, where the historic Shigar Fort and the valley’s iconic mosques gave us a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Wandering through the charming Skardu bazaar, we met talented local craftsmen and soaked in the authentic atmosphere of this special place.

Only one day left before we leave Northern Pakistan behind — still full of excitement for what Skardu has in store for us next. Stay tuned! 🇵🇰✨

🇵🇰 From Minapin to Skardu – A Transition Day with Hidden Gems 🏞️

After the unforgettable treks to Rakaposhi and Diran Basecamps, we planned for a relaxing day… but “relaxing” in Pakistan still comes with its own kind of adventure!

We made the long journey from Minapin to Skardu – our final stop in Northern Pakistan before heading back to Islamabad and eventually Europe. Along the way, we said goodbye to the legendary Karakoram Highway, a road that has gifted us with countless memories over the past weeks.

Before reaching Skardu, we made a few scenic stops, including a visit to the beautiful Upper Kachura Lake, located at over 2,400 meters above sea level. The turquoise waters, framed by dramatic mountains, were absolutely stunning. We enjoyed watching the locals enjoying boat rides and water activities – a peaceful and joyful sight.

Now it’s time to soak in the magic of Skardu and create even more unforgettable memories in this extraordinary land called Pakistan. 🌄✨

🏔️ Diran Basecamp Hike – A Truly Unforgettable Experience 🏔️

Just 24 hours after reaching the stunning Rakaposhi Basecamp in Pakistan, I found myself standing at the foot of another majestic giant – the Diran Basecamp. Two basecamps in one day apart – a dream come true in the heart of the Karakoram!

Unfortunately, my trekking companion Gábor had to stay back due to feeling unwell the night before. So, it was just me and our excellent local guide, Haider, setting off after an early breakfast at 6:45 am. The round trip took just under five hours – a fast-paced and thrilling adventure.

After a rainy night, we were gifted with crystal-clear skies that revealed the full grandeur of the surrounding mountain range, the towering ice wall, and the mighty Diran peak in all its glory. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking.

Another highlight was the glacier crossing – something I already cherished a few days earlier at Patundas, but this one again felt incredibly special. It’s not every day that hikes include traversing icy landscapes like this, and the sensation was simply exhilarating.

I’m still totally overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and raw power of this place. Without exaggeration, this might have been the best hike I’ve ever done!!
