🚫RAMP CLOSURE 🚫
Ramp Closures Are Scheduled Along Interstate 40 to Test Wrong-Way Detection Systems

Temporary overnight ramp closures along Interstate 40 are expected to occur intermittently from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly on the following dates:
• Tuesday night, July 22, to Wednesday morning, July 23
• Wednesday night, July 23, to Thursday morning, July 24
• Thursday night, July 24, to Friday morning, July 25

Weather permitting, crews will close the off-ramps listed below in two-hour intervals to test wrong-way detection systems.

I-40:
• Westbound, Exit 247
• Westbound, Exit 256
• Westbound, Exit 260
• Eastbound, Exit 265
• Eastbound, Exit 271
• Westbound, Exit 271

Only one ramp will be closed at a time, with plans to complete three to four ramps per night.  Emergency responders will be allowed to access the ramps at all times.  All others will be required to use an alternate exit.

Traffic will be controlled by Highway Police with the use of barrels, message boards, and signage.

Wrong-way detection systems include vehicle sensors, closed-circuit television cameras, illuminators, hardware controllers, warning devices, and communications equipment that notify motorists if they are traveling in the wrong direction.

If the sensors detect a motorist traveling in the wrong direction, LED lights will flash to notify the motorist of their mistake. In addition to this, there is an alarm that will be sent to the Arkansas Department of Transportation Traffic Management Center so crews can report and track the motorist.

Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.

It's always a pleasure to showcase what makes so great — and it always makes a great impression! We met with more than 100 international tour operators and media at IPW 2025 for one-on-one appointments, and even got to share what we love about Arkansas in a press conference attended by media from across the world. Arkansas is on the map, and for good reason!

📍 Scouting the White and Cache River watersheds has uncovered incredible potential for paddle sport investment and events, and we’re excited about what’s ahead.

The Arkansas Delta is a treasure trove of outdoor experiences, not just for those on two wheels or foot, but also on the water. Specifically, opportunities to explore along the intricate water trail systems that wind throughout the region.

These opportunities align perfectly with studioDRIFT’s mission to connect people with our region’s waterways through sustainable recreation.

We're inspired. Stay tuned!
