My friend and I spent six days traveling with Gayashan and his car.

We only had a rough idea of our journey and were planning day by day the intinerary, but our driver was always on the ball and made suggestions here and there to make the most of our trip!
We especially appreciated when he suggested some stops along the way to see temples we had never considered.
We also loved having him in few experiences he had never done before - such a great memory for all of us!

From the very beginning, Chamara was punctual and displayed complete proffesionalism and courtesy.

Lanka i Leisure – Clean car, knowledgeable driver

Manju was the best driver and guide we have ever had. We did a day trip from Colombo to Galle return. He was super friendly and knowledgeable, very attentive (but not too much) and worked with us to customise what we wanted to see. The car was clean and comfortable and there was drinking water on hand at all times. Overall highly recommended!!

Lion Roar Sri Lanka Travel Planners – Totally satisfied!

We booked our car & driver with Lion Roar through this website as this was our 1st time in Sri Lanka. From the time we met our driver Thusitha in the airport in the beggining of our trip, until he dropped us off at the end 10 days later, we knew we were in safe hands!

He was always calm, despite the chaotic conditions, eager to accommodate all our travel plans, even at a moment's notice. The car, a hybrid Toyota Prius was very well maintained and always clean. We drove over 1000km throughout Sri Lanka, around the cultural triangle, East Coast, and the Highlands and we never had a vehicle problem or delay. Whenever we asked for a recommendation or local advice, we were not disappointed, as he always knew the best restaurants and activities in the local area. Over the course of the days we got to know him better as well, and by the end of the trip we were pals! We had a great time, and definitely recommend him with my heart to any future travellers.

The company was flexible with payment, accepting cash or bank transfer in major currencies, as long as it was discussed in advance.

We were very sad to say goodbye. Thanks Thusitha!

Amazing Sunshine Holidays – An Unforgettable Week with Shan

We’ve just returned from seven incredible days of day excursions from our base in Colombo, and we owe the entire experience to our outstanding driver, Shan from Amazing Sunshine Holidays.

From the moment he picked us up from the airport on day one, Shan impressed us with his perfect English, impeccable professionalism, and above all, his genuine warmth and care. His car was always spotless, cool, and comfortable, and he drove with the kind of safety and attentiveness that immediately put us at ease.

Over the course of the week, Shan took us to a dazzling variety of locations: Udawalawe National Park (where we saw dozens of elephants!), a magical mangrove cruise in Bentota, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth and Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, a day at the Sinhalese Sports Club watching test cricket, and fascinating cultural stops like the Pettah Market, Red Mosque, Galle Fort, Unawatuna Beach, Gangaramaya Temple, National Museum, and even the Muthurajawela wetlands.

What truly set Shan apart was his flexibility and attentiveness. He always took my wife’s limited mobility into account, adjusting plans on the go, finding ramps, close parking, or cooler spots when needed — all without fuss. His knowledge of each destination, thoughtful suggestions, and unfailing good humour made every day an absolute pleasure.

If you're considering a private driver in Sri Lanka, look no further than Shan. We couldn't recommend him more highly. This was not just transport — it was a five-star experience from start to finish.

East Coast Travels – Exceptional Driver and Guide

Sri Lanka June 2025.
What can we say other than WOW! Sri Lanka certainly exceeded all our expectations and a lot of that was due to our driver and guide Sudarshan.
We are two couples, one from Australia and one from Wales, friends meeting for our 15 day holiday of Sri Lanka.
From the moment we engaged Sudarshan as our guide, he was a brilliant communicator via the phone and WhatsApp. He helped us plan our itinerary to include all of our must see places in Sri Lanka, plus he showed us so much more. Extras included the Spice Gardens; an authentic village experience that included a Sri Lankan banquet ; turtle sanctuary and Minneriya National Park. Sudarshan was also happy to include some free time for relaxation when we asked for it in Pasikudah and Galle.
Sudarshan met us at our first accommodation and took us to the airport to greet our Welsh friends on their arrival. The Toyota Hiace van was brand new and had so much space and comfort, with exceptional air conditioning that was great on the hot and humid days. Cold bottled water from the car fridge was freely available.
Sudarshan was so friendly and such a calm and happy person who was only too keen to help us with any requests that we had. His driving was first rate and we felt completely safe at all times.
Our itinerary was as follows :-
Negombo - 1 night
Colombo - 2 nights
Anuradhapura - 1 night
Dambulla - 2 nights - climbing Sigiriya was a highlight
Pasikudah - 2 nights
Kandy - 1 night
Nuwara Eliya - 1 night
Ella - 1 night
Yala National Park - 1 night - 2 leopard sightings were a big plus
Galle - 2 nights
Negombo - 1 night
Sudarshan transferred us all to the airport for our flights home.
Thanks so much for the wonderful memories Sudarshan.
We would highly recommend East Coast Travels to anyone wishing to have the true Sri Lankan experience and in particular booking Sudarshan as driver and guide.

Realm Lanka Tours – Great tour of the Hill Country

Niroshan carried us on our 7-day road trip from Tangalle to Colombo, staying two nights in each of Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy. We'd planned out an itinerary before we came to Sri Lanka but he made several good suggestions to improve it and was knowledgeable and informative about the places we went. His car (a Toyota Allion) was comfortable and his driving style careful and reassuring, important given the chaotic traffic, numerous wandering animals and the sometimes crazily narrow and steep roads. His English was good and he was both friendly and professional. We would certainly recommend.

Tour Buddy – Local expert, flexible, big smile

For Priyantha: Our trip was off to a rocky start before we even met Priyantha at the airport. My sister and I were supposed to meet up in Hong Kong on a layover for the connecting flight bound for Colombo. She made the connection, while I missed my flight. As a result, Priyantha had to first pick up my sister at 1 a.m. and bring her to the hotel, before heading right back to the airport to pick me up at 4:30 a.m. Needless to say, a night without sleep is enough to put anyone in a bad mood. If Priyantha was tired or stressed, well, it just never showed. He had a big smile and an easygoing attitude. And so that unfortunate start to our trip was quickly forgotten.
We departed at dawn for our first stop at Sigiriya four hours away. Then he drove the rest of the day taking us to Dambullah Caves and wherever else we wanted to go. All in all, he was our driver and tour guide for two long days. It didn’t matter that we didn’t have much time to plan for this trip, because he always suggested something that fit exactly what we wanted to do or see. Thank you, Priyantha, for making all that so easy. You made all the difference!
