Welcome to The Artist Room 👨‍🎨

Here you’ll find several works by John Chester (1929–1976), a graduate of OCAD and a devoted admirer of the natural world. His art, rooted in a deep appreciation for nature, serves as a lasting tribute to the timeless beauty of our landscapes and to my father.

The Lighthouse Room

Features two double beds with a beautiful view of the lake and is adorned with a special painting, a gift from Fritzie McConnell (1920-2012), a beloved cottager from Ohio. Fritzie and her family had deep roots in the Chandos area, having built the original five hunting/tourist cabins on this bay. One of those cabins, “Hilltop,” still stands today - on Susan’s Sandy Shores. The painting depicts our beach from many years ago, capturing two of the cabins: “Mary Lou,” which has since been demolished, and “Hilltop”.
