Another gorgeous week working nice and local in the Bannau Brycheiniog - Brecon Beacons - National Park. Had a treat this morning to find a boring old patch of Knapweed absolutely covered in butterflies, haven't seen so many in one place for years 🥰 , I think the ones I managed to snap are a Peacock, Red Admiral, Painted Lady and Cabbage White... also caught a glimpse of the Brecon Mountain Railway train as it passed by Pontstycill

⛰️ We’re launching a 4-day Wilderness Expedition for adults running from the 16th to the 19th of September 2025 in the Cambrian Mountains, one of the UK’s most beautiful and remote landscapes.

🥾 🧭 For many years we have seen parents, teachers and instructors support their children through the DofE Award, but they don’t often get a chance to experience this kind of challenge and adventure for themselves. Over this time quite a number of people have said they would love to take part in a similar experience and this has motivated us to create these Wilderness Expeditions and offer exciting adventures to adults as well as students.

What the experience includes🏕️:

-🎒 Backpacking in small groups through wild country
-⛺️ Camping in quiet, rural campsites ➡️ tents, stoves and maps provided
- 🌌 An exclusive wild camp in an international dark skies park
- 📋 A comprehensive list of things you need to bring
- 🧭 Initial training and instructor accompanied walking ➡️ learn basic first aid, how to navigate and look after yourself in the wild
- 🥾 A supervised expedition with experienced Mountain Leaders ➡️ a mixture of direct and indirect supervision
- 📲 The use of tracker technology
- 😁 No pressure, you’re not doing your DofeE ➡️ there is no assessment, this is a fun experience for outdoor enthusiasts
- 🎁 There will be some luxury treats along the way!

No prior experience is necessary - just a willingness to try something new! However, a good level of fitness is needed, as there will be walking with a full pack up to 8 hours a day over 4 days.

What an amazing week working on the Isle of Skye for this year's CoppaFeel! CoppaTrek Challenge. We had four teams, 120 incredible ladies who raised over £500,000 trekking for 5 days in rain, gales and thankfully a little sunshine too; with our team captain Bryony Gordon and my fellow leaders Lizzy Codd, Elliott Swinney and Phil Nelson

Saw two lovely glimpses of Spring being on it's way today... had a wander up one of my favourite peaks in Bannau Brycheiniog - Brecon Beacons - National Park , Fan Gyhyrich. Spotted and heard my first Skylark of the season, flying high and singing his little heart out. Then found a load of frogspawn in the little pool around the trig point... Happy days 😊

Had a lovely wintery walk today from Penwyllt up on to the peak of Fan Gyhyrich... the top was completely shrouded in cloud and it was a bit of a relief to finally find the trig point... visibility was about 4 or 5m! Beautiful sunshine apart from that tho, and I learnt a new word...
Apricity which describes the warmth of the sun in winter, which was very much appreciated on the way down!

The other side of my job... I had the pleasure of working with this Silver group, they put a lot of hard work in to their expedition and had a great time doing it 😊

Had absolutely perfect weather on Fan Frynych this afternoon, and this handsome boy was happy to pose for a photo 😊
