A super sunny fun snowshoe walking over some ski pistes that have now closed, coffee & cake with a view and introducing to the cheese 🧀 vending machine at - oh and the view of the crocuses and Haute Forts without my dogs bottom in it (see previous post 🤣).

You have to be quite adaptable when snowshoeing in the spring! Hard snow in the shade, mushy snow in the sun, areas where you 'forest-shoe' where a patch of snow has melted and slidyness on some sections too (there were a couple of somersaults, it has to be said!). But there will always be coffee and cake and laughter and that is how we finished our last open group snowshoe of the winter.

A huuuge thank you to everyone that joined one of our open group snowshoes walks this winter. Your support and enjoyment powers us on. Looking forward to summer hiking 🌞🌸

Thursday's spectacular spring snowshoe took us from the Lac du Mines d'Or, around the Chalets Freterolles and down past the Refuge du Chardonniere. The snow was super deep in some places and non existent for short stretches too but seeing spring flowers emerging was 💛🧡🌸.

We are entering our last week of snowshoe walks as the sun is warm 🌞😎 and spring is springing 🌸🐦

Our end of season newsletter will be landing soon so keep an eye out 📧

Spring is definitely here which means the ground warming and the snow retreating but we still have a couple of remarkably snowy walks to do on our snowshoes
This was a bit of a longer one yesterday but absolutely stunning with the blue sky (before some more fresh snow came in)

Spring time snowshoeing means using the great grips on sometimes thin and hard packed snow and then sometimes walking too. The lovely snowshoe up to the Ardent cascade was snow almost all the way and the falls were a spectacular place for a coffee and cakr

& are with us all week and so we decided today to go on a hike a bit further up the valley away from the snow and find spring flowers. We started from Les Onchets, above St. Jean d'Aulps and walked up to the white cross for hot chocolate and yummy brownies and strawberries. Then over to the beautiful Alpage of le Fouyet just enjoying the sun, the forest, the flowers, seeing where squirrels had eaten seeds and discovering a big chunk of boar hair (wolves?) and having a really good natter. Sometimes simplicity is best 💚🍃

What are we looking at in the first photo?
A BEARDED VULTURE! 🦅
Because of the low cloud, the bearded vulture was circling super low. Not only that but because of the heavy snow, the chamois came lower than normal to graze too and they were really quite close (Gaia was on the lead at this point) I've never seen them at this point before!

Beyoootiful ❄️❄️❄️ yesterday. Heaps of fresh snow and snow whilst we snowshoed too. (Briefly back to winter whilst it's actually spring...just love it 🤩🥰💙🦌

Living our lives through adventures

2 people and their dog on many adventures - see our webpage to find out where we are now and where we are going next.

This is a portal into our lives where we are going and searching for different places and expanding our lives around some freelance outdoor instructor work. We can’t bear to be stuck in a 9-5 anymore and we want to see more of the outdoors and meet great people. You can find us lurking around Europe, Scandinavia or Nepal!
