🌺 In Tahitian and Polynesian culture, a flower worn behind the ear is more than just a beautiful accessory, it’s a quiet form of communication rooted in island tradition.

Traditionally:

🌸 Flower on the left ear → your heart is taken, married, or in a relationship
🌸 Flower on the right ear → single and open to meeting someone
🌸 Flowers worn on both sides → married, but perhaps still open to conversation 😉
🌸 A flower worn in the back → often symbolizes remembrance or respect

Men also traditionally wear flowers, often as an unopened tiare bud tucked behind the ear. The direction the bud points can carry meaning too:
🌿 Pointing upward → single
🌿 Pointing downward → taken

Beyond relationship status, flowers are also a celebration of nature, hospitality, femininity, masculinity, and island pride. In Tahiti and throughout Polynesia, fresh flowers are part of daily life, woven into ceremonies, dances, welcomes, and everyday moments.
