10 Tips For Traveling To Guadeloupe ✨ (save & share) 👇🏾
1️⃣ France are the colonizers of Guadeloupe so most locals speak French or Creole, so knowing basics like “Bonjour” (Hello) and “Merci” (Thank you) can go a long way!
2️⃣ Rent a car. 🚗 It’s the best way to explore the island! Bonus: They drive on the right side of the road, just like in the U.S.
3️⃣ Watch your speed. Stick to the speed limit—those traffic cameras don’t play! Don’t get a ticket like I did😅
4️⃣ Sundays are for relaxing. Most shops, restaurants, and attractions are closed, so plan for a chill beach day or scenic drive.
5️⃣ Visit earlier in the year: Flights are much cheaper from January to April compared to peak summer months into winter.
6️⃣ Bring cash. 💶 Euros are the currency, and some smaller shops or restaurants might not accept credit cards.
7️⃣ Try the local food. 🥘 Don’t miss out on Creole specialties like Colombo chicken, Bokit sandwiches, and fresh seafood!
8️⃣ Pack light layers. 🌦️ It’s warm year-round, but a light rain jacket is handy for sudden tropical showers.
9️⃣ Explore both islands. 🏝️ Grande-Terre has the beaches; Basse-Terre has lush rainforests, waterfalls, and volcanoes.
🔟 Don’t forget sunscreen. ☀️ The Caribbean sun is no joke. Protect your skin while enjoying paradise!
