Watching the story unfold...

One of the greatest luxuries on safari is spending time with wildlife without the distraction of other vehicles or a guide that thinks they have a tick list to work through.

At MalaMala Game Reserve we spotted a lioness that was obviously nursing. We stayed with her as she made her way back to her den, softly contact calling softly for her cubs. She was so cautious the tension was palpable, then we were thrilled to see 4 cubs cautiously appear out of the thick bush, before belting out to greet their mum, falling over themselves in their excitement.

After leading them deep into the bush to feed she rested while the cubs beat each other up with renewed energy!

A gorgeous sighting and such a privilege.

"Outstanding. Cannot fault it. Location is fabulous, the concession is incredible, the scenery is STUNNING, great wildlife and the whole environment all really special."

Those are my notes from my recent stay at Singita's Lebombo Lodge, located in it's own private concession in Kruger National Park. As you can tell I loved my stay here!

The lodge itself blends beautifully into the landscape. The suites have a simple elegance, perched on a cliffside with stunning views of the N’wanetsi River. The staff made our stay, so relaxed & welcoming, nothing is too much trouble.

The landscape was unique and one of the most beautiful areas I've explored in South Africa, and our wildlife sightings were superb.

How to have fun in Franschhoek...

There are SO many reasons to love this beautiful little town and SO many ways to indulge yourself while you're there.

👀 Soak up the views! Everywhere you look there is a jaw dropping vista, try to make sure you're able to enjoy a scenic sunset at least once during your stay.

🛌 Stay somewhere fabulous! Just outside town La Residence was just incredible, or for a more central location Leuu House or La Quartier Francais are idyllic and convenient bases from which to explore.

🚲 Take a guided wine tour on two wheels! Not as crazy as it sounds, and great fun. My favourite part of this experience was a pairing at La Bri.

🍽️ Eat incredible food, Franschhoek is home to some world class restaurants. Sadly we didn't have time to visit La Petite Colombe but meals at Protege and La Petite Ferme were absolutely delectable.

🍷Taste more wine! is 100% employee owned so is ethical, visionary and produces fantastic wine - what's not to love?

🖼️ Take in the art - it's everywhere! There are famous galleries on the high street and beautiful sculpture everywhere you look.

I recommend you put aside 4 nights to really enjoy what Franschhoek has to offer, hmm, or maybe longer??
