The Greatest Stone Skimming Spectacle Returns!!!!!

A little later than normal due forecasted tide levels, the world stone skimming championships will return on 11th September 2027 at the home of Stone Skimming - Easdale Island.

Entries have NOT Opened

Unless already qualified, entry into 2027s championship will take place by a ballot. The ballot is not yet open. Please keep an eye on our website or social media and we will alert everyone when the ballot for 2027 is up and running.

Planning to attend this years World Stone Skimming Championships?! Well here are some top tips to make sure you have a fantastic time

1- Entries - competitor entries are sold out - Please do not attend hoping to compete if you do not already have an entry.

2-Spectators - It is completely Free to Spectate

3-Transport - consider how you are getting to the tournament in advance. There is limited parking so we appreciate everyone sharing cars as much as possible. Parking costs £5 with money raised going to local primary school and community hall. Please only park where directed by volunteers.

4-BUS - ‘GET THE BUS’ Tartan Tours Oban is providing a bespoke service to the championships and there is a regular public bus travelling from Oban. Check out our website for details.

5-Ferry - There will likely be a que to get a ferry to the island. Please wait patiently and allow priority to volunteers and competitors. Tickets for the ferry will be sold on the island. If competing it is best to arrive early between 09 and 10 am to reduce the queuing time.

6-Weather - There’s always a good chance of rain and wind on the island so dress for the weather

7-Food- Food is available on the island - from burgers, sandwiches to Oysters!

8-Drink- Please remember this is a Family event for all ages. Please drink responsibly.

9-Merchandise - Make sure you pick up a momento of this year’s championships. Many items are only sold on the day of the tournament so don’t miss out.

10-Thank you - Say a big thank you to all our incredible volunteers without whom the event could not happen. It will put a smile on their beautiful faces.

11-Practice - Why not practice your own stone skimming skills - but please do not do this in the harbour.

12-Language- With competitors coming from over 30 countries and across the world this could be the perfect opportunity to dust off an old phrase book and practice your Italian, French, Spanish or German.

13- Fun - Most importantly - HAVE FUN!!!
