Since I was supposed to be flying overseas to visit family today, I don't have any tours booked here in Israel for the next few weeks. Thus, nothing canceled.
But, last week I led 3 fun tours.
Loved tackling "whatever we can do" in Tel Aviv with the amazing Shulman mother/ daughter team. History, art, architecture, graffiti, start-up and innovation stories... We walked, talked, ate. What a great day!
Then, on Wednesday I led the fabulous 3-generation Kopp clan through the diverse and colourful old city of Jerusalem. Where layers of languages, cultures, religions, clothing, and stones reside.
Plus some surprises:
A spinning marathon was set up outside the Old City walls.
We were hurried out of the almost empty Church of the Holy Sepulcher by Greek orthodox monks and Israeli security to make way for visiting foreign dignitaries. Next to the Western Wall, soldiers were setting up for an IDF unit swearing-in ceremony on the Public Plaza.
No two days are the same in this thriving, most eclectic square kilometer in the world.
Thursday's tour was to Masada & the Dead Sea. Fascinating, hot, stunning, and so very peaceful.

Such a contast to this week. We've been sent to shelters every night. Schools, work, museums, malls closed. But the 'chesed' never stops as we rise to the challenges. I cook for a soldier stationed in my city while someone else cooks for my soldier stationed in theirs.
Praying for a quick return to more peaceful days, and nights.
July tours are still scheduled!

Israel has many organizations and facilities that advocate for animal rights and protect animals.
This week, I visited the Primate Sanctuary. For almost 30 years, they have been dedicated to rescuing monkeys, including dozens which were recently smuggled illegally into Israel. They offer family friendly guided visits & educational programs.

Masada has never looked so good. Or, absence makes the heart grow fonder! Thanks Sam & Rachel!
