The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in northern Tohoku, and in Hokkaido they are expected to reach full bloom from the end of April to early May.
This season, the period when the dormancy was broken is expected to be later than normal nationwide. In northern Japan, the delay was made up for after the dormancy was broken, but in eastern and western Japan, the delay in breaking dormancy is expected to have had an impact, and the flowering and full bloom periods are generally normal.
Over the past week, the flowering front crossed the Tsugaru Strait and reached Hokkaido, and flowers were observed in Hakodate and Sapporo on April 23rd.
In most areas of eastern and western Japan, the leaves have already fallen. The northern Tohoku region is in full bloom, and in Hokkaido, full bloom is expected to occur from the end of April to early May.
