THE Chelsea Flower Show has been postponed till September 2021 for the first time in its 104 year history. I am so excited to see the creativity unleashed by the garden designers in a different season. And yes, Alice is looking at carnivorous plants!

Plans are afoot for a tour to the English Countryside to take advantage of this.

Please message me with your email if you are interested in a once in a lifetime experience 🌻🌷🦋

I really enjoy the warm welcome at Falconhurst: a private home and organic farm with splendid views over the rolling hills of the Sussex Weald. The house was lovingly built in 1852 and the same family has tended the 700-acre estate ever since.

Ever thought about how famous historical characters lived?
The homes of royal, political, literary, and artistic figures give an intimate glimpse of their lives, loves and challenges.
From Ann Boleyn to Churchill and Kipling to the Bloomsbury set: their stories are intriguing and, sometimes, shocking. As I walk the same floorboards, touch a banister, or sit dreaming under an ancient oak, I feel a connection…

Not-to-be missed gardens are Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter.

Sissinghurst is a part of 'our romantic Saxon, Roman, Tudor Kent'. It has a certain elegance of design and theatrical effects, and the profusion of the 'cram, cram, cram every c***k and cranny' method. I delight at every turn.

Great Dixter, with its juxtaposition of wildness and formality, is 'the bravest garden of all. It doesn't hide, it's out there for all to see, successes and failures alike'. Pure inspiration!

What would you do if your beloved family home were struck by disaster, not once but twice?

This happened to the Messel family. They had poured much love into creating an idyllic country house and one of the most beautiful gardens of the Edwardian era. Theirs is a triumph of hope over adversity.
