One of the best moments of my life came as a result of kicking off my obsession with free travel. It begins at a 16th century church at the top of the old city in Menton, France. This spot had a view of the Mediterranean Sea with mountains in the background. It's a crazy story, but when I was 18, I dreamed of proposing at this spot in Southern France. The reason it came true was also my first experience with free travel.

Fast forward to 2010 when I'm in my late 20's. Proposing in France costs some money, and I didn’t have much to spend. I started to become more practical about spots I liked in Nashville (where I was living), but then my friend told me about a credit card that came with bonus points. I looked up the link, and the bonus offer said, “Enough for 2 Roundtrip Tickets to Europe!” Wait... What?! The proposal budget just got $2,500 in free travel money.
