Happy New Year New York! 2022: Jazz is live again in the Big Apple, and even if some clubs have closed for good and others are taking a wait and see approach to reopening, we are finding and hitting the clubs that are keeping the scene going - safely as they can, and safely as we can. Bring your healthy and vaxxed selves out, bring proof, bring a mask, and put a smile behind it on your first Harlem Jazz Crawl of the year with Big Apple Jazz Tours.

I was moved by the jam session at Minton’s last Thursday and spent a few creative hours Friday making this memory to never forget how good we have it New York and Harlem in particular.

It was a special treat at Minton's last night. Our Big Apple Jazz Tour group of 10 got a once-in-a-lifetime night of entertainment by the finest and warmest...

You can learn something new everyday...like the name Ernie Shepard, bass player and singer with Duke Ellington:

This is an amazing find that I wasn’t looking for at the time...

Lots of chat from Duke and also rare shot of Billy Streyhorn. This version of 'A-Train' features Ernie Shepard (aka. Sheppard) on vocals and bass.

People have asked me where to stay in New York that is convenient to the Harlem Jazz Crawl as well as other interesting activities in New York City so I created this link with the dual purpose of answering that question and supporting ourselves with the commission offered by AirBnB. There are plenty of wonderful places to stay while visiting NYC, and one of the most convenient and charming neighborhoods is just south of Harlem and just north of Midtown - and it's right next to the almost 900 acres of Central Park. Check it out.

This is the neighborhood between Harlem and Midtown Manhattan that rests on the westside of Central Park with an overabundance of charm - encompassing great restaurants, scenic walks, cultural institutions and elegant brownstone homes on picturesque treelined streets. There are 5 major subway lines....

Live jazz in New York City is sequestered for now but I'm still thinking about how great it will be to sit in a club again with all my friends. Happy Jazz Appreciation Month 2020 style New York! Enjoy the Video.

COVID-19 Update: We are now and for the foreseeable future offering our highly-rated Harlem Jazz Crawls in a parallel dimension that is safe from contagions and bad news - a dimension where only the truth is ever spoken and hearts are filled with joy and jokes are funny without being snarky.

Click your heels in a syncopated beat and join me there. Find me when you arrive, I'll be wearing an out-dated hat and I'll be smiling.
