*BTIA Corozal Elects New Executive Board at Special AGM*

Corozal Town, April 24, 2025 – The Corozal Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) proudly announces the appointment of its new executive board, elected during a special Annual General Meeting held tonight. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Efren Perez, National President of BTIA, who oversaw the nominations and voting process.

The newly elected BTIA Corozal executive board is as follows:

Mr. Charles Rublee III– Chairman

Mr. Froylan Gilharry – Vice Chairman

Ms. Karina Ake – Treasurer

Ms. Abigail Mena – Secretary

Mr. Dioni Marin – Marketing Director

Mr. Joel Verde – Ecological Corridor Representative

This new leadership team brings together a diverse group of professionals dedicated to driving sustainable tourism development and community engagement in the Corozal District.

Congratulations to the new BTIA Corozal Board! We look forward to a strong and impactful term ahead.

BTIA Corozal Chapter Mourns the Loss of Maria Gutierrez

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Maria Gutierrez, or as we lovingly called her, Ms Mar, who served as the Secretary of the BTIA Corozal Chapter with dedication and passion. Mar was a vital part of our team, bringing warmth, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the growth and development of our community.

Her contributions exceeded her role—she was a guiding presence, a kind spirit, and a true advocate for Corozal’s tourism and business sectors. Her unwavering support, hard work, and kindness touched the lives of so many, and her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.

As we grieve this loss, we also extend our deepest condolences to her children, family, and loved ones. May you find strength in the love and impact she left behind.

Mar’s legacy will live on in the work she dedicated herself to and in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. May she rest in peace.

On January 17, 2025, the Belize Tourism Industry Association hosted its 39th Annual General Meeting at the Belize Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. The event, centered around the theme “Tourism in a Time of Climate Change,” featured an engaging panel discussion moderated by Sabreena Daly and a thought-provoking Keynote Address by Janelle Chanona, NGO Senator and Vice President of Oceana.

A key highlight of the AGM was the election of Officers for the posts of 2nd Vice President, Secretary, and President. Congratulations to:
